Replying To The Quiet Man:  "Some of the colleges you mention in the County of Cavan have many former senior players many are still playing with their clubs. May I ask why they are not actively involved with promoting and improving the standards. Many went through the system. I know some are involved at some level but may I ask why is nothing coming through from their involvement. BJD St Pats Breifne College Virginia to name just a few one would have thought these young lads would have picked up some useful tips coming forward and maybe start showing it at Club level, maybe then at county level. I have my own views on manual coaches & development squads but yes time to show up or move on. I read a post it was only Fermanagh that Cavan lost to but to be fair Fermanagh are working on their youth and it's showing at both football & hurling also sadly it's not showing here in Cavan.
I see people looking for the minor management to be gone the U20 management also but not the senior WHY is this I ask. If changes are to be made let's sweep clean and do things right selecting the new management at all levels including the hurling. I heard on the radio today the Cavan hurling manager said they had stage fright I wonder why Fermanagh did not have the same considering it's rear for either of them to play at head office.

I will say one thing in Nicholas Walsh's favour every school in the county knew him why is this you ask well because he made it his business to visit all of them well most of them anyway also if you asked the children around his time who is your favorite player the majority would have said Nicholas.

I am not advocating changes but if it needs to happen then do it at all levels and start afresh."
I mentioned Fermanagh, not to knock them but to put it perspective. We have a bigger football tradition and membership than Fermanagh. The posters before were talking about schools football, well to the best of my knowledge Fermanagh only have one school in McRory just like us. It is obvious that their coaching oversight and strategy is now miles ahead of Cavans (as is every other county in Ulster it seems) and that is a failure of the person over youth football in Cavan. Their job is to put structures in place, people in the right jobs, have schools going well etc etc. There must be accountability when people are in paid jobs and are not delivering.

The senior manager is being given the benefit of the doubt because he's a proven winner.

Who would you replace him with?

God help us ….. if the children at that time said Nicholas Walsh was their favourite player then they must have never seen him playing….. and maybe it was just as well…!!

I never realised "proven winners" could take a team from Div 1 to Div 4 in 3 seasons…? That's a new one on me….

Does anyone else find it incredible that the manager of our senior county team should be allowed get involved in the backroom team of a club from another county? At a time when he should be trawling the Cavan club scene following the historically dire year he has just presided over. In addition, his most prominent selector is managing a club team in Cavan. The optics are appalling.

I also think this is poor form and sends a bad message to our players.

Sorry to say fella your figures are way of the mark. When he was head of the coaching staff he had a very good relationship with the schools and TRUTH to be told he was very popular with most.
It does not matter to me in the least zero or 100% the usual will alway's disagree with me no matter what.

You actually do say it in your post but maybe you didn't mean to as I very much doubt anyone of any age would name him as their favourite player…. You should probably proof read your posts before hitting the send button …. !!!

Tyrone beat fermanagh by 30 points in tonight's Ulster minor semi final. The same fermanagh who deservedly beat Cavan in Breffni in the quarters.

Yes I did say that but it was meant as one of the coaching staff not particularly as a player but he was known to the children as he was playing in those day's.

Jason and Seanie I expect will be mentioned by many.

How low can it get for us…? Maybe the minors missed a serious hammering by not beating Fermanagh…

The Down u 20 team that Cavan couldn't lay a glove on get their comeuppance against Roscommon. Cavan management need serious scrutiny and wholesale clear out and they need it now.
