If anyone offered me an Ulster title and a short spell in Div 4 as package last year I would gladly have taken it! There is a future. May take a while but we will get back! That Ulster title is appreciated by the majority of good Cavan supporters but not by the few knockers who have to be complaining all the time! Patience and bringing new players along is the foundation! Life can't be good all the time, no point in jumping on their backs! Cavan gave us some lift last year!!! Come on all Cavan supporters, let's see what happens in the next few years! Grumps will be grumpy no matter what happens!!

The current manager will need to change his outlook on the league or we are going nowhere under him.

a few days have passed and i'm still as disappointed i was after the game, tbh after the game i laughed with shock but now its bitter disappointment, this loss tarnishes the ulster title. there is no question of that, there is nothing worse than a title being viewed as a flash in the pan. even had cavan got promoted they'd have needed to beat tyrone for the rest of ulster to actually take us seriously. now........it'd take another ulster title this year and it appears miracles don't happen twice.
on the physical games we've seen its hard to pick out the main problem, inconsistency, arrogance, decision making, injuries all played a part. but you just do not expect ulster champions to make some of the mistakes or decisions that we did. its bitterly disappointing and its a long climb back to division 2 even!!! will we have learned anything from the fall? doubtful. learning doesn't seem to be a strong point going from that league performance.

Separately, apparently an inter county team that played on Saturday burst into an almost sympathetic laugh when word had filtered that Cavan were relegated to division 4.
In the space of a few short weeks we have gone from being respected, feared and admired to being a complete and utter laughing stock......"
I listened to it. They also said they'd give us a chance against Tyrone.

But you decided not to mention that.

It's great to see the same lads who criticised Terry Hyland's championship performance and completely ignore his league progress now turn around and call Mickey Graham's championship success a fluke and focus on his league results as a reflection of his tenure.

We haven't been promoted from Division 4 yet, so it hasn't been a short spell. Maybe it's that kind of attitude which has Cavan in Division 4 next year, taking Wicklow for granted.. Tipperary, Carlow, Sligo, Leitrim will all be looking to keep Cavan in Division 4 a while.

let's get this straight. I never said last year's Ulster win was a "fluke". It was won on merit. Which is why I am so dissappointed at what has gone on since. We had a one-off game against a periennal minnow to save our league status and couldn't do it. That is the reality. Cavan supporters are 100% entitled to moan and be grumpy . What the hell kind of supporters would we be if we just accepted it ?. It is because we are true supporters that it effects us so bad. I cannot and will not take relegation to div 4 lying down and I will not be silenced by sycophants.

Spot on. Some people on here are willing to accept division 4 football on the basis that we had a good championship. This is the exact reason why we have won two Ulster titles in 50 years. A complete Lack of ambition and a losers mentality.
I was delighted with the lads winter but I said straight after the Dublin game now is the time to kick on .. put teams to the sword and get back up the divisions asap.
Similar enough to the fact we have not won an underage title since 2014. After the 4 in a row, we never pushed on with our underage teams . Sure why worry , we won 4 in a row .. time for a complete mentality shift in this county .

Look at Mayo,.first time in years they were relegated from Division 1 last year, and they were determined to go straight back up. It's the same if Tyrone or Donegal drop out of the top Division for a year, they go straight back up.

But Cavan are above the league apparently.

Here's a secret.

You can be good at both.

Yeah let's celebrate being relegated to Division 4 for the first time in 137 years.

That would be pretty much accurate assessment of your knowledge! Some people are preoccupied with cribbing!! Did you ever hear the old Irish saying ;
Mól an Óige agus tiocfaidh sè.
We will rise again!!!

Ah so we will just pat Mickey and the lads on the back for a job well done and if we get hammered by Tyrone it all right too … everything is going fine… there is always next year…. Did you ever hear of another saying.. "Your only as good as your last game "

Maybe we can look on the next games as building the future rather than cribbing all the time! Remember very few counties win titles in a year, yet this forum seems to be the only one who has the most crybabies!!! Leave the squad to mend their season as most of the other counties are also presently doing!

Building the future is been happening as long as i have following Cavan football and after the Ulster success last year i though that this is it we now have a team who is going to compete against the top teams.

I now believe that this team is not really very good as the league results have shown but is still capable of taking a scalp on any given day. Now i hope i'm proved wrong on that but it is my opinion.

Unbelievable, win their first ulster title in 23 years and relegated to division 4 yet people who criticise are called crybabies!!! sums up where we're at as a county with regards football. Why can we not strive to play the top teams every year in division 1 or even 2 , why take mediocrity and hope to beat the odds every year. Why not be the team to beat , the favourites going into the championship year on year?? Why not try to improve Cavan football and God forbid have senior county champions who might some day compete in the Ulster club championship ? It seems some people are content with the odd victory now and again and that's fair enough, but in my opinion to be constantly in the mix for provincial championships you need to be playing in the top divisions. The biggest problem with Cavan GAA is not the players or management, although they share part of the blame, but it's the politics within the game.Until everyone works together for the greater good of Cavan GAA we will always be playing second fiddle to the big boys.

That's very simplistic. Even to be in Division 4 will hit the County board financially .
