Like yourself and Gleebo I've no recollection of any marks taken and was pondering the same. Probably down to the number of bodies Tyrone always had back making kick passes too risky. They were very good defensively and nearly always managed to get sort of pressure, block or contact in. Even a shoot on site merchant like Darren Coen I can't recall getting even one shot off (maybe I'm forgetting... I've no appetite for watching it back). If we took points just for every goal chance missed and ROD put the ball over the bar instead of against the post we'd have had 20 points. I know that's hindsight. There were 3 or 4 other close in shots which went wide too, plus a couple on target that fell short into Morgan's hands. Just a small bit more composure could have seen Mayo been neck and neck in the final few minutes. When you take all of that into account it's hard to disagree with JH's that the team selected (and I had reservations before as well as after the game) was good enough to win and that it was largely execution (nerves, form or whatever) which let Mayo down. If it was Kerry we were playing then the players wouldn't have had to contend with the pressure of expectation and that definitely weighed heavily on the performance. At this point we won't know till the league starts which way Mayo will react and what the options and approach will be for 2022. Cillian will be back, but there are bound to be a few other player differences. For 2022 there'll be a lot of sides on a mission for sure and Tyrone's win will inspire some others, so the path to potential glory could be a lot more congested. Mayo will still be in the mix... one bad day out, granted it was the final, doesn't make them a bad team.

Replying To togoutlads:  "Hard luck Mayo. A tremendous achievement in its own right to take the Dubs and make the final with a rebuilt team but such a pity not to get over the line - Tyrone aren't all that but they did enough.
Another topic but linked - Hope ye hold on to Oisin Mullin by hook or by crook, the AFL are a shower of …., we GAA people put close to two decades of hard work into coaching and developing our young players , volunteering, guiding, driving thousands of miles collectively, washing jerseys, running with lads up hills in rain and hailstones and then Tadhg Kennelly and other AFL scouts pick up the phone and make the offer. You can't blame fellas for wanting to go but clubs and counties need something for that immense effort in preparing lads like that for another code to just come and lift them without so much as a thank you."
Aren't all that you say but still champions. Other posters have said about mayo missed chances tyrone missed a couple of goal chances as well and hit a few wides.

We'd have been happier Smiler if like Mayo ye missed them all:) Should we assume that there was a gentlemen's agreement before the game to murder every goal chance but Tyrone sneakily didn't keep yeer end of the bargain??
