Division 3 North 2021

One swallow never made a summer, the players need to back up last year to prove they are good enough and it wasn't a fluke. As great as it was, 97 team were but on a pedestal but never backed it up. I hope the same thing doesn't happen, there may be a hangover from last year high but let's hope over next few years we can start competing at higher division and continue to compete for Sam Maguire.

continue to compete for Sam Maguire....when has cavan last competed for Sam Maguire?!! Cavan made the most of the bad weather, slow pitches, knockout scenario last year, it'll be a long while before they win an ulster, never mind reach an all ireland semi final again.

Pathetic post

Making the ulster final in 2019 proves it wasn't a flash in the pan.

Nothing that happens this year can change that.

For Cavan to make an Ulster Final they are totally dependent on the outcome of the draw... The last 2 seasons have proved that.. Any time we end up on the tougher side we nearly always come a cropper... It's a chance this year for this team to buck the trend and if they are as good as some on here think then that will happen.... I sincerely hope it does...!

Monaghan, Down and Donegal were all favourites to beat us last year.

Monaghan and Armagh (both times) were favourites to beat us in 2019.

Is there another team in Ireland who have won as many games as underdogs in the same time frame? I seriously doubt it.

That doesn't take from the fact we were on the handy side of the draw unlike this year.... We are 20/1 to win this year's title...! surely the longest odds in history for Ulster title holders...?

How many times has ulster been won from the preliminary round since the 50s
How many times has a team won ulster playing 4 games I 4 weeks

Now if you look up the answer to those and still think Cavan had an easy draw last year then there's nothing I can do for you.

No matter what way you dress it up Cavan were on the easy side of the draw last season...., If you can't see that then there is nothing can be done for you... .. If Cavan had been in the other side of the draw it's doubtful they would have had to play 4 games in 4 weeks... As you seem to think the draw makes no difference and giving the fact of having more of a break this time between games they should have no bother retaining the title..... Let's see if you are right..!!

Pathetic post...as we have seen in the past 50 years, the past doesn't win you games. But you might be right, Cavan should be fresher this year after not turning up for a Div3 league so should have no problem brushing aside a Tyrone side who didn't make it past the 1st round of Ulster last year. Then a handy enough semi against a Div3 team or a team that had to start in the preliminary round. So I should start preparing my humble pie now for the evening of August 1st. Its not as though any of those teams have scoring forwards who guarantee you 5 or 6 points a game and cavan have any number of them.

If in division. 3 they won't compete, if in div 1 or 2 you can compete for Sam.

i thought every team competes for Sam.
I thought the Tailtean cup only becomes live when you get knocked out of sam and you are in the bottom 2 divisions.

Progress appreciated, great to win an Ulster along the way. Let's give our managers and team a chance. It was a terrific experience last year. Any normal supporter would see and enjoy it! Be cranky about something else and let the team get on with it!! Let's hope their is an end to covid before long. Enjoy life and the football!!!

Completely enjoyed our success last year as I did in '97 but it's the here and now that counts.... If you keep looking back you will surely walk into something as the saying goes... Roll on next weekend... the past is long gone...!!!!

Cant see Cavan having many problems on Saturday. Cavan were pipped at the post in two matches in a strong North section while Wicklow lost all three matches in the Southern section.

REPLY to Forever Blue
The past is where all great memories are stored. Am afraid with Kieran Brady gone Mickey is short an ace of hearts in the deck, lets live in hope that all the others turn up on the day against Tyrone.

We have players who can fill in for Brady in defence... The Hallow is good going forward but not wonderful as a defender but his raiding runs forward will be missed generally but in this game a sitting defender might be more valuable.... Regardless of who we have available it's going to be a big ask for this team to topple Tyrone but here's hoping everything goes right for us and wrong for them..... Let's take care of Wicklow first of all

You would have to think Cavan will have more than enough. But it's a strange game from a psychological point of view, Wicklow are coming into this under the radar with a one-game chance to save their season, whereas Cavan fans are already talking about Tyrone. This game is probably more important to Wicklow than their Leinster championship, so Cavan need to start with the right mentality or this could turn into a dogfight

every team that participates is "competing" otherwise they would be classified as friendly matches.
