Division 3 North 2021

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Forum a bit quiet these days, don't see a topic for the league and it's only days away. How do we feel this goes? I think the league split has been very unfair, although I do understand why geographically. You could argue the bulk of the strongest sides are in our group, the South is quite weak. Saying that, without being disrespectful, we should be too strong for this group. We won't be runaway winners, we never are in games, but we should have the strength, fitness, and skill to win these matches.

Reports had us beating Roscommon in the Hyde last weekend in a challenge, but with lots of errors too. Good to get going though and hope that's the rust off for Saturday. It is all about gearing up for championship, so I'm sure Mickey will use players, but we really need to get out of this Division. We should never have dropped back down only for the strange enough circumstances last year. We always go well in Brewster, I'll say Cavan by 5.

I'll go with Cavan by a couple of points but it wont be simple, Fermanagh are a tough team and always have been. So little information about who is in the panel and who is not, the panel lined out will be an interesting read. I just hope they brought Gumley in.

Oh absolutely. Always tough there and they're a decent team, just do expect that we'll see this out. Think Fermanagh are down a few players this year too. We should have enough for them.

Conflicting reports tbh, I also heard that after I posted the above so not sure who's right. Tight either way, but did hear a lot of errors from both teams...

Any team news for tomorrow yet?
I'm tempted by (-2) handicap based on the same fixture last year and our rise since.

Sean McEvoy, Caoimhin McGovern, Caoimhin O'Reilly, Paddy Lynch, Brian O'Connell, Kevin Bouchier, David Brady were all in at some point this pre season. Heard a rumour that Michael Argue is back in too. That would be great as he could add a lot

impossible to know how this will go. just hope all the lads have kept their fitness and conditioning up during the long layoff. Fermanagh would have a head start on us regards prep and game time so it could be tight.
Either way it's great to be back.

We've had one challenge against Roscommon, with the North open that but earlier, Fermanagh have had 3. They could be that bit sharper alright. We've a strong team named though, just saw a snap of the programme. Paddy Lynch named full forward, Argue is indeed back in and is in the bench. Hoping we hit the ground running this evening

Well that was what we feared. .

Eaely days and a long layoff but that was dreadful stuff. Fermanagh are bad. And we were somehow worse.

Standing ten yards away from your man is not man marking nor is fooling around with the ball in the middle of the field is not attacking football. Oh! God help us how awful to watch.

Spot on. I know its early days but It was abysmal stuff. From the outside looking in you would just think two very poor teams.
We lacked the basic fundamentals of gealic football, kicking passing shooting etc. Fermanagh were awful, but half way through that game they realised we are no great shakes and actually got some belief to go and win it .
Now all of a sudden we are looking towards division 4 instead of division 2. Last winter we were in an all Ireland semi. can you Imagine what Dublin, Mayo or Kerry would have done to Fermanagh tonight . (Pre season or no pre season)... Serious reality check..... only positive I can take is young McGovern is one for the future.

A bad start. Lost the midfield. Fermanagh hungrier for breaking ball. Poor marking. Up front not sticking when we went long. The same problems we had last year maybe we will win Ulster again.

Another of improvement needed if we're to get promoted rather than relegated.

That was a terrible display, Why have we gone back letting teams have there own kick outs, it caused our relegation last year. That tactic doesn't work for us we concede to many frees in scoring positions, Argue should have been started in mid field with James smith, We looked clueless going forward. It's very disappointing I was hoping to get out of the daldrums of div 3 this year, if we aren't careful we could slip to div 4
