Replying To wexico15:  "I fancied us given how poor Waterford were last week but wasn't shocked, games between the 2 of us have been close generally in the last 5 years and Waterford have won 3 of the last 4 encounters between league and championship, all 3 of those wins in Wexford Park.

Glorified challenge match for yourselves next week ( think you need to lose by 29 points to be in bother) and do or die for us so that will be an unusual dynamic."
very surprised at result today however i am sure we will take nothing for granted next week and will be going all out for win .

I am very saddened to see Wexford football gone back so far, since the summer of 2004 or 5 I think Wexford almost caught Dublin (wasnt that a Leinster final)...Jason Ryan was working the oracle with them and they had some lovely players...no disrespect at all to Waterford and well done to them..

Thought we were tactically poor too many players out of position too often. Badly misplaced passes and wrong options took going forwards in Waterfords 45 also didnt help. When you get turned over or lose the ball with a sloppy pass you are vulnerable to a quick counter which Waterford did very well. Apart from that a few players played well individually. Waterford seemed more up for it too suppose they had to win. Alot to work on and get right before the Carlow game not sure if theres enough time to do it.

2008 we got the AISF after a bad beating by Dublin in the Leinster final. 2011 was the 1 that got away we should've beaten Dublin in that years Leinster final. We also won the Leinster u21 football final that year. But Breen, captain of that team, Matt O Hanlon, current senior hurling co captain, and liam og McGovern ended up concentrating on hurling. Kevin O Grady, Conor Carthy, Michael Furlong were the only 3 playing against Waterford from that team . Since then hurling and rugby have both got alot more successful and soccer always was very popular here.

Yeah between 2004-14 we reached 7 leinster semi finals and 2 leinster finals going toe to toe with Dublin in 10,11 and 12 and the all ireland semi final in 2008. From 2015 onwards I believe we've won no leinster championship game and won 2 qualifier games.

I don't think people appreciate how much of a dual county wexford is at club level, only 2 clubs play hurling only Oulart and Rathnure while Wexford town is a peculiar situation with several football only clubs and 2 hurling only clubs which all have a good bit of crossover. This year due to no relegation in 2020 there is 13 senior clubs in hurling and football. 6 clubs are senior in both while Sarsfields in football and Faythe Harriers in hurling are single code senior clubs in Wexford town with a bit of crossover, Lee Chin plays for both for example. Plenty of high profile hurlers excel for there clubs at football too, to my mind Wexford hurlers full back Liam Ryan has been the best midfielder in Wexford club football for the last 4-5 years while Rory o'connor was 1 of 3 players nominated for wexford club footballer of the year in 2020. Pre covid hurling club championship would be alot more popular in terms of spectators and I was told would typically account for 80% of the total gate receipts from club championships.

Waterford v Wexford result possibly a knee jerk reaction to the Paul / Davy Fit's issues when he (PG) was Wexford manager.
Probably affected team preparation, along with rapid change of managers and covid issues.

It will all come good.

Think the Galvin stuff wouldn't have made any difference. Poor decision making and general rustiness were bigger problems. Think Waterford having played a game already probably helped them. Hard to correct problems when you havent played a game to see what the problems are.

Waterford turned us over in 2018&19 too so don't see the Galvin thing as much of an impact myself, seems to be alot of distain towards him in Wexford but I wouldn't subscribe to that opinion personally, taught the most progressive football we've played in the last 2-3 years was in the league games under Galvin just before the Covid lockdown.

I thought so too. My dislike for him is because he didnt see it through.

I know we have the forecast league table but I am going to stick my head over the Parapet and say that
the Semis will be Antrim v Waterford and Louth v Carlow
Much as it pains me I think Louth and Antrim will be promoted and Antrim as Champions

Have to say i am dissappoined in Leitrim thus far
I really expected them to be in the hunt....any insights as to why it has not.
Also.the forecasts including my own are very conservative for the Carlow v Wexford clash. Viking going that bit further with a Wexford win.
The numbers would suggest a cakewalk for the Scallion Stars. My conservatism is based on being Carlow we naturally lack that boldness that stronger county supporters have. My main reasons not to forecast a 16 point win is
1.Wexford wont be as bad agsin and need the win
2.Carlow may take opportunity to play different players in readiness for semi.

Let see what pans out
