I think you are far to nice, you could have omitted the word "Ulster" and your statement would still be true. Ignorance has no borders. :-)

I would agree with you. As Ulster champs Cavan will be full of confidence. Donegal and Tyrone are obvious choices and Monaghan and Armagh alsoin the mux. Yes any of 5 with Donegal and Tyrone the favourites.

No. It's Donegal, the quality team . Tyrone? Can't see it. Cavan and Monaghan make up the also rans. Down next with Armagh and Fermanagh not having a hope.

Eh, what's that ? 31 teams can win Ulster?
My mistake , I'll have to reassess what's going on so.

Monaghan are an ageing team armagh can't beat a division 1 team and cavan won't ride there luck this year the same as they did last year with the exception of the final where they were brilliant. So it's down to Donegal or Tyrone anyone other than that wins it il give ya a thousand euro

A dangerous bet is that ! I think it takes a bit more than "riding luck" to make the comebacks Cavan did. They fully deserved their win and I wouldn't write them off to win it again this year, it's great that it's so unpredictable though.

Going to interesting to see the Ulster draw, what odds on Donegal v Tyrone in the first round again?"
Agree, leagues are god for trying things out, think that's why so many want leagues and no championship, more slip ups. Mayo went down last year but it doesn't make them a worse team for this years championship. Main event is championship, always will be. Don't tempt fate with Donegal and Tyrone.

But it's not. Yes every 6/7 years a different team might come about. Apart from that even going forward Donegal are the most likely to win it, Tyrone might take one or two over next ten years. There will be a shock in the ten years like last year. But it's not that unpredictable at all. Granted it's more unpredictable than either Leinster or Munster. But then throw Dublin in there at it be same as Leinster, as ulster teams find out unfortunately.

Walk munster (they won't make same mistakes as last year) tipp or cork haven't a hope this year. Connacht, hard to look past mayo, Galway will fancy their chances but that's it. Ulster ? Can't see Cavan in summer having the same impact, Donegal will win with Tyrone hoping for a win. So realistically I have 2 in Connacht 2 (at a push ) in ulster one in Leinster and Munster
If I was to put on a bet.
I'd go Donegal
Dublin
Kerry
And mayo with a possibility of Galway."
Connacht
Mayo
Roscommon
Galway

Munster
Kerry
Cork
Tipp

Ulster
Tyrone
Donegal
Monaghan
Cavan
Down
Armagh

All the above teams have a chance of winning their province. Of course they won't go into their championship favourites and there is a lot of stats and reason's to suggest most won't win a provincial title this year. However each of those teams will be hard beat and as a result those three provinces will producea great championships this summer.

There is no reason any of those teams can't prepare and have genuine hope. It's difficult for Leinster counties as before the first training session this season they know the best they can hope for is getting to a final and heading home from that with a 20 plus point defeat.

As for the All Ireland series yes it's hard to have much excitement as it's likely we know the result already, but after a tough year lets enjoy the Ulster, Munster and Connacht championships. Straight knockout in the heat of summer will be intense championships.

No they don't. I'll tell you what.
Kerry will win munster
Mayo or Galway will win Connacht
Donegal or Tyrone will win ulster.
I am quite known here. (Ie plenty of people know who I am in real life) So I will gladly donate €500 to a charity chosen by hs posters if I am wrong in any of the above.
It just ain't gonna happen and I say that in a unfortunate way. Football is slowly dying. Everyone is focusing on Leinster obviously but all provinces are suffering, in the end I can't see it making a difference as none of the above will beat dubs.

I think majority of people not only in Leinster but beyond now take the league as the main championship. The all ire series is dying a slow painful death. The first thing that needs to happen is the provinces need to be scrapped (now that won't happen as the provincial councils won't let it happen) so really we will just go through this charade until it's too late.
Roll on the league.

We rode our luck??? Hahahahah that is a good one. You do not win Ulster by riding your luck- toughest province by far. You can win Connacht, Munster and maybe Leinster by riding your luck coz if you manage to get a lucky draw and then get to the final, produce one massive performance while the favourite does not play well you can be lucky to win the final- that does not happen in Ulster my dear friend.

How can a team in leinster win leinster by riding there luck against the like of Dublin?? Who dispatched of the great Ulster champions like it was a training match anyone that seen that game knows Dublin were on 3rd gear going through the motions and still won by 15 so how could any kind of luck beat them in a leinster final

You might have got average odds from regulated bookmakers of 1/4 if you were lucky for a double lay of both Donegal and Tyrone in Ulster over the last ten years.

Let's say you wagered on the double lay €1,000 per year, you would still have lost €1,250 even though one of them won it on 7 out of 10 occasions. But of course a one off wager increases your odds, but is the risk worth the reward ?

Cavan won Ulster last year on merit and as reigning champions they will be the team to beat. People talking up Donegal & Tyrone? Neither would fancy a first round trip to face Cavan in Breffni. Naturally I hope that our lads will use the pain of last year's defeat to drive them this year, and no doubt Tyrone will be feeling the same about us. Monaghan & Down will also be sick at the manner of their exits last year too. Not to mention the shadow boxing that will take place in the league where ourselves, Monaghan, Tyrone and Armagh must all meet before Championship even begins. Who knows what markers will be laid down there, injuries and suspensions etc

So there are all sorts of sub plots in Ulster and it is dangerous in the extreme to be blithely chatting about €500 or €1000 bets. Lets see what the draw brings - I believe it's on the after the 6.01 news tomorrow week.
