See the motion to reduce all Counties Senior Championships to 16 teams has passed....anyone know when that is likely to be implemented ?...does it mean Intermediate, Junior etc will need to be 16 teams as well ?....lot of change coming here in Galway after this decision.

I'm totally disillusioned with Congress. It's nothing more than a nodding shop for the leadership of The GAA. Motion proposed, delegates nod their heads, show of hands, carried unanimous as dear old Selwyn Froggitt would say.

I suppose if you come from a county with more than 16 Senior teams you are surely blessed. But in my opinion a lot of "make weights" and is a drag on standards as we have seen with Inter-county.

Meath ahead of the game for a change; we reduced our SFC to 16 in 2020. Didn't see anything about it applying to Intermediate or Junior.

Most counties have been paring back their championships in recent years anyway. The inequality of the All Ireland club championships probably played a part i.e. the Intermediate Champion in a county with a 9 club senior championship is the 10th best team in the county, but they could be playing the 25th best team from another county because they have a 24 team senior championship.

It's a farce... the sin bin should have been deffered aswell. Wait until the refs make a hash of this and important games are destroyed.

Nonsense Greengrass. Congress was excellent in my view today. Did you bother watching it? The motions on cynical play are a great addition.

Ya we've been at 16 teams for a while ourselves, 8 club teams and 8 divisional sides.

There will be some fun as you say in Galway over the next year or two particularly in hurling circles. This means up to eight teams facing the drop in each division allied to the fact that attempting to win an intermediate or junior crown in the next couple of years will be just a waste of time as you'll just end up back where you started.Plenty of players will say why would I bother .Daft decision

Have you actually read the wording? Its far too vague in some ways and too specific in others. It needs to be rewritten completely if its got any chance of survival beyond the trial. God knows what damage it will have done before then.

Does this mean that the Dublin senior 2 clubs will all become intermediate clubs? Is this 16 cubs and I suppose it does. Then all intermediate clubs moved to junior. Anyone know.

I was thinking this too about all the counties that have Senior Bs and Premier Intermediates and all sorts of funny names for their grades. Like in Cork the Junior Hurling Championship is their 6th tier because they have 2 "Senior" grades and 3 "Intermediate" grades.

The motions on cynical play, particularly in hurling were needed. Have you looked at the nonsense that had been put in place in relation to football over the last number of years.? The advanced mark is one of those decisions. The playing of the U20 championships last season is another. The decision not to allow U20/21 footballers declare for the county senior panel is another. The Tailteann Cup is another. I could go on and on.....

The advance mark should be done away with... it's a joke. Think about it.. a forward gets a free in for catching the ball...! Is that not he is on the field to do..? Bonkers

Exactly. There are plenty more of those types of decisions ForeverBlue. I shook my head when I looked at the one about joint captains. Does that decision apply at club? As you already said, bonkers !!!!
