A lot of teams in the Ring, Rickard Cup etc have used transfers.

The likes of Kerry and Kildare used it quite a lot.

If someone is living in a county AND playing for a club in that county
then transfers are fine.

Otherwise they shouldnt happen.

Goes against what the GAA stands for.

P. J. McIntyre was a Garda from Offaly. He spent most of his career in Kenmare County Kerry. He was a dual player and played both codes for both Offaly and Kerry in the late 60s and early 70s.I wonder is there anymore players that played dual for two different counties. Vinny Murphy played both hurling and football for Dublin but only played hurling for Kerry(he did nt get the football call up). McIntyre s son who was also a Garda played hurling for Kerry but died in tragic circumstances in a car crash a few years back. Séamus McIntyre r. I. p..

Those players were living in the county so played for them. Currans original point was players can just transfer to counties like some Nfl draft system

Good question. I found this after a bit of research, there could be more, but I doubt with as much success.

From Wikipedia: Brendan C. Considine (21 February 1897 - 17 December 1983) was an Irish hurler, Gaelic footballer, rugby player and boxer who played as a left corner-forward for the Clare, Dublin, Cork and Waterford senior teams. He first played for Clare in 1914 and was a regular inter-county hurler until his retirement in 1930.

Part of the famous Considine family that included his brothers Willie and Tull, Considine is regarded as one of Clare's greatest-ever hurlers. He won two All-Ireland winners' medals, winning his first as a seventeen-year-old in 1914 making him the youngest player ever to win an All-Ireland title. He also won two Munster hurling medals, two Leinster hurling medals and one Leinster football medal.

It's a professional business organisation with many paid positions. Not to mention the rumours surrounding the numerous "unpaid" managers at club and county level. Even the refs at club games get expenses far in excess of petrol money which they share with the umpires in my personal experience. The players and alot of grassroots coaches are amateurs. Amateurism isnt what the GAA stands for.

Wow that's some story. Fair play to you Cockney. I'm sure no one will have a record like that. On another note in ladies sport there s a woman from Castleisland Co. Kerry with an unique record. Mary Geaney captained Kerry Ladies to win an all ireland title in 1976.As Kerry did nt have a camóige team at the time and she went to college in Cork she played camóige with Cork winning a few all ireland and also captaining them to an all ireland win. So Mary Geaney was captain for football and camóige winning teams for two different counties. She also won many Ireland caps for hockey. Her brother Dave has 2 all ireland football medals for Kerry 1959 and 62 and her late father Con was on the 1st Kerry 4 in a row team from 1929 to 32.Mary would be related to current player Paul Geaney. A real unique sportsperson was Mary.

Niall's Father Martin was from Milford in Cork. He joined Drumcollogher, a neighbouring parish in Co Limerick, played for Limerick and then Waterford. So Niall was returning to his roots. Martin's is an uncle to Lorcan McLoughlin and Anna Geary
