Changes Or Tweaks You'd Make To Your County Jersey.

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

With Christmas upon I take it being football and hurling mad we're all buying gaa merchandise for ourselves and family, are we all happy with our counties and clubs contributions for jerseys (home and away)? Tracksuits shorts and so on?

Personally I'm very happy bar the new county Jersey (where I'd rather the 2019 one) everything else is class.

1 change I would make overall and I think it's all ready happening is we seem to have moved away from our munster blue away strip to a black away Jersey with Paul Galvin launching his transatlantic Jersey last month, hopefully our County board continues with the black away strip.

Antrim's jerseys I think can be a ome of the nicest looking going.

It's great to have their support but looks wise the fona cab logo really does hurt the current kit. Otherwise it's practically faultless.

The dark green away jersey is slick.

I do like how broadly speaking GAA kits have gotten simpler again in recent years.

I'm still yet to see a nicer jersey than the Meath 2001 strip. Mainly green with the gold block going down the shoulder and sleeves.

I think most if not all Gaelic (and soccer) jerseys from the mid 80s on are over-styled. For Tyrone, I'd go back to the big red hand that was on my late Dad's county jersey in the middle of the last century. It looked like someone had dipped their hand in a bucket of red paint and left a handprint. Unadorned, basic, primal. It works for me.

From a Meath perspective, I love to see the male jersey look more like the ladies with Kepak back on the middle........ a reminder of far away good times

Overstyled? Is your current jersey not just plain white with three red stripes on the sleeve?

As a Meath man; retain the dark olive green and keep the yellow square grid pattern. It's synonomous with the county and just looks "right". The current ladies jersey is mint and id wear it quicker than the mens.

Was the alternate jersey mostly red with a white hand? Very Lord of the Rings.

Also the jersey you describe sounds more complex than the modern jerseys you claim are over-styled. I the current Tyrone jersey is plain white with 3 short stripes on the shoulder. It barely gets more plain than that.

There is too much black in the current Kilkenny shirt for my liking. Black all along the shoulder, the top of the back, sleeves and all around the bottom.

Will they ever bring back the ould woolen jerseys with the laces down the front, of course you'd have to ware a vest with them or you'd be ate alive.

I always liked our 1998 Adidas Jersey but then horse reminded me of our 1992 one and that is away nicer, hopefully Galvin will use it for inspiration in the future.

I'd prefer the Kerry 19 Jersey also. I'd also prefer Dubs 19 Jersey. Think Down have a class rig out at mó. The gaa are gone like soccer now with the changing of jerseys regularly and of course the kids always want the new one.

Been the same for the past 20 years, O'Neill's can't leave the stripes well enough alone and start putting in different shapes and designs on the sleeves and shoulders. The one a few years ago with the diagonal black block across the shoulders and chest was a particular abomination.

I normally like Kerry's jerseys but their current one with the gold sleeves makes them look like a junior B team from the 90s.

I'd like Dublin to move away from the navy shorts and collars for a season or two and move back to white like they had up to the 60s/70s (think it was Heffo who introduced the navy). They'd still win the All Ireland mind you.

Wexford have moved away from their all purple jersey thank God and now back to their more traditional purple and gold half & half.

Echo a previous poster, the Antrim home jerseys are usually class. Their 1989 All Ireland final one was a classic (shame about the result though!)

Jerseys are too "busy" for my liking and they change too often.

But that's just how it is in these commercial days and if I was in charge of a county's finances, I wouldn't turn down the money that's brought in.

I love the three stripes on the O'Neill's jerseys down south, giving big business the finger.

Think that's the point. It's a money grab for sure. But 1 good thing about going to the games is the variety the supporters are wearing. It's great to see jerseys from 10 and even 20 years ago still around!

Agree 100% I prefer ours to be purple and gold. Not purple home and gold away.

Iv always liked the Down Jersey/kit as well Mick, red and black go great together also love the black and Amber stripes on the Kilkenny jersey but can't bate the green and gold although I don't like this years 1.
