Be a close game but in my opinion i see mattock winning by two points...they hav alot of forwards that can score, the backs are tight..and they hav a few good subs on the bench that are good enough to make an impact. THe blues dont hav as much depth in their squad....2-8 to 1-9....

mr t,
What are you talking about saying the Blues have no depth. Look at their bench for the Semi Final, Eoghan Judge, Smiley Philips, Martin Philips, Jimmy Murray, Craig Owens. Them lads would walk onto any other team in the County

...mattock have 4/5 young lads from the u21 squad that won the championship this year...daniel bannon who played midfield for mattock all last year, ryan lenihan who played minor county football, martin sherlock louth minor this year, greg monaghan, tom o'reilly etc....some experiance in niall callan too...all THESE lads would walk onto any other county team!!

I never said that Mattock had no depth. You said that the Blues had no depth and I listed 5 players the Blues had on the bench last game who would walk onto most other teams in the County. I actually think that as regards squad strength they are pretty similar. Just think that Mattock have no footballer with anywhere near the experience or class McManus has.

Robk, what are you talking about.. all you talk about is ian mc manus, if he's such a class act why did sean boylan never even consider him for the meath seniors. you say no mattock players have the class he has, ar you for real, what about david reid, mark brennan or cristy grimes.. it makes me laugh some people coming on here talking rubbish.. maybe ian mc manus will be playing for the irish comprise team, hes such a class act

RobK; Mcmanus never played Senior intercounty football. So therefore would Christy Grimes or David Brennan not have more experience than him. Mcmanus never even played Senior club football in Meath. Were Curragha not a Junior side?? I agree he is good but more experience than those 2 men. I think not!!

108432 RobK; Mcmanus never played Senior intercounty football.

Your wrong. He played with Meath senior team in 2001.
He played alot of the league matches but had a disagreement with boylan and left...

Well in fairness lads he was on the Meath League panel in 99 and we all know how good that team turned out. Fair enough he didn't make the Championship panel but that team won an All Ireland. No offence but there is very few Louth players who would have got anywhere near that team. McManus played Intermediate football in Meath and in general the quality of Intermediate in Meath has been around the same as Senior in Louth. McManus came from an Intermediate team (who had just been relegated) in Meath coming to the end of his career and still walked on to the Blues team without even being fully fit. I think that says quite a lot. No disrespect to any Louth player is meant here but it can't really be argued that Louth football is on a par with Meath football. Yes Collon have some very experienced footballers but do you really think that if McManus had have played all his football in Louth he wouldn't be an Inter County veteran at this stage or do you think any Collon player would have got near the Meath panel of '99?
I really don't want to turn this into a Louth v Meath thing as I have a very high regard for Louth football and think their are some quality players in Louth. I just feel that McManus has a certain class about him and is a man for the big occassion.

ah seal ther's no need to be like that!!!!!!!!!
Mark Brennan is actually a very good footballer as is Christy Grimes, I just don't think they have or had what it takes to make the Meath team when they were challenging for All Irelands whereas McManus did make the League panel and if it wasn't for arguments with Boylan may well have had an All Ireland Senior Medal.

dont think verbal assaults on individual players should be allowed on this site. Mac manus is playing away with blues and doing his best - he never cliamed to be as good or better than any mattock players and should not be berrarted on the site.

Best of luck to both sides on sunday

Point well made RobK, and well backed up, but I hope for your sake he plays well, or there will be fellas baying for your blood next week!!!
I must say though that Mark Brennan is a class act and if he had the same desire about the game that David has I have no doubt that there wouldn't be a Meath GAA man not knowing who he is.
