Cluxtin should have left philly give the speech as he seemed to have plenty to say at half time in the tunnel, very dignified for sure.

some captain should get up and give 3 of the most condescending "hip hip horray losers" and see what people say. perfect10 (Wexford) - Posts: 3929 - 22/12/2020 10:01:50 2325324 Link 0 |
I think the speeches are worth it for the few that are truly memorable. MesAmis (Dublin) - Posts: 13803 - 22/12/2020 10:49:58 2325339 Link 2 |
Cluxton is the captain- he gives the speech. WE can only speculate what was said in the tunnel.

Ya Avon and we can safely speculate that he wasn't asking O'connor what he was getting for Christmas.

100% agree, very decent, grounded, low-key bloke - seen him exiting early once after an AI final win, job done, no time for all the back slapping stuff. Totally understand that. Horses for courses - some people love jumping up and down, roaring and shouting etc. Other people want to get the puck out of there and savour the moment without having to talk pure rubbish to well meaning incoherent people. We're all wired differently, and a lot of these occasions assume everyone is a roaring extrovert.

Yes of course most are rubbish, but still worth keeping. Esp first time a county wins it, be scandalous not to say a few words. Still like Canavan's speech comparing Tyrone to the British army (panic starting in Montrose lol). And Brian Dooher's East Tyrone accent - he spoke half in Irish, half in English - some people near me commented that you couldn't tell when he switched from one language to the other, as, as far as they were concernmed, he was equally hard to understand in either. Let's just be grateful that most confine their efforts to just talking; Murphy at the singing for Donegal was something else : ) essmac (Tyrone) - Posts: 1141 - 22/12/2020 15:18:46 2325413 Link 1 |
A bit like yourself, but mabey not he has all Ireland to win.

Well said Mesamis. If people don't want to listen to speech they don't have to and there have been some memorable speeches like you named and of course Joe Connolly 1980
