Tipperary V Mayo

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

I know the game was done and Mayo probably took the foot off the gas but the sheer amount of goal chances, Con O'Callaghan will be licking his lips.

Div 1 vs Div 3 .

Hope it's a competitive final and I never thought I'd say this but I hope Mayo win

If Dublin walk the final after Mayo slaughter Tipp enroute then will the top brass at GAA still ignore the problem

I hope I'm wrong and we get an entertaining dublin v mayo match. What an All Ireland final should be

Good luck to Mayo well deserved spot in the final earned.

Replying To Tirchonaill1:  "Should be a great final now, all this bs about Dublin being unbeatable, a lot of it is defeatist talk, there's 3 or 4 teams who can give Dublin a real test on any given day, just the way this Championship has panned out has skewed things this year,
sorry Tipp didn't do better today but they have had a great year,
I hope they let a few thousand fans in for the final. It's working fine for Premier league soccer."
Absolutely spot on

Not with a defence like that.

If I was a Mayo fan I would be very worried about the goals scored and the number of goal chances given to Tipperary

Tipperary put in a better performance than Cavan last night at least.

Did anybody really expect it to be any different?

A team who beat Division 4 (after extra time) and Division 3 teams by the grand total of 4 points up against one of the best teams in the country over the last number of years.

Mayo completely switched off during the 2nd half, particularly after the water break and still strolled around controlling the ball.

Another clear example of the gap between the top teams and teams considered to be middle bracket. Also a strong argument against going back to knock out football for anyone who wants to see competitive games during the latter stages of the championship.

Disgusting show of sponsorship marketing by the Tipp team laying a wreath

Look how orchestrated it was with music and cameras setup for them

Hard to know what to make of that really.

Cillian was on fire today and only two wides in the entire game tells its own story.

However, we are far too open at the back and I shudder to think of what Kilkenny and co. would do with those chances.

Given that we are a team in transition, I would certainly have taken a final berth at the beginning of the season.

A word on Tipp, it's a very hard day for them and we've taken some hammerings like that over the years. Hopefully this can be a learning experience for a young side that can come back and compete at this level in the years to come. Reminds me of what happened to Donegal against Cork in 2009, within two years they were putting the Dubs to the pin of their collar in Croke Park.

Disappointing for Tipp to finish year like that but still first Munster title in years

They showed a lot of frailties in the Mayo set up. I wouldnt be very happy if i was the mayo coach.
3-13 conceded. Tipp could have scored a few more goals on top of that.

Not too fussed..
They will have a totally different game plan for Dublin.

You can afford to play an open game against certain teams and im glad they took the foot
off the gas to stop the hype going into overdrive..
Killed the game in 1s half with good attaking football instead of slogging it out for 70 minutes which afforded them multiple changes for the 2nd half..

Don't know what rabbit hole you're trying to go down, showing respect like Dublin footballers and Donegal & louth hurlers also did in the last few weeks

Tipp should have had another 3 goals at least. They didnt give up the fight but the 2 errors in tue first half from Comerford were fatal. They would have still been in it apart from that.

I hope Power manages to keep the Tipp panel together for next year (O'Riordan aside obviously, he'll be a big loss). I think they have some really great footballers, I love watching Conor Sweeney, I think just today it was decision making that let them down. Hopefully Power keeps them together and they get out of Div 3 next year and have a rattle at Munster again. They are as good as Cork without a doubt in my view so why not.

I think it sets up a great final, Mayo eased up I think today, I think Dublin will miss the likes of McCaffrey and Connolly when the games in the melting pot, they must be sick of Mayo, they just keep coming back, really looking forward to this final now. Be interesting to see how the bookies see it, Dublin will be favs but not by a whole lot.
