Replying To MicktheMiller:  "Ref thought the Joe Canning foul was an attempted clearance by a Limerick player. I thought it was a foul."
It was a by the book sending off offence that went unpunished and typical of the low, dirty stuff JC has had to deal with over the years.

We won playing badly. Shocking wides but we fell over the line.
Whole other level needed against Waterford.

Much more importantly, hope Joe Canning is ok. Terrible thing to see a player go off on a stretcher like that.

This will hurt Galway massively. They didn't turn up on the day and yet could have sneaked it. Amazed that mcinerney wasn't taken off at half time. Makes no sense to have your best half back in mannion not playing as a half back and actually marking someone!! Overall the first disappointing semi final in a few years but limerick won't care. Hegarty is some hurler but what has he got to do to get a yellow card. Four stone wall yellow card offences and I don't think a free was given for one of them.
Limerick done enough like they did in the Munster final but I'd imagine that won't do the next day.

On the two red card instances there's no question that hegarty didn't go to hook canning. No one attempts to hook with a swing like that but a yellow for me.
Gillane on the other hand is very lucky. It wasn't a two with the flat of the hurl like commentary made out. It was very very stupid. I'm not sure if he had seen the line that limerick could have any excuse. If the likes of Dave is mcinerney or conor Gleeson get sent off for flicks during play then is this all that much different?
I probably wouldn't have sent him off having said that but it was extremely stupid.

This was Galway's third match in a row. Matches against Kilkenny, Tipp and the powerful Limerick. No shame in losing. I hope Joe C is ok. But overall good signs for the future. Well done Limerick. But Galway will be back. Gaillimh abú

On the Gillane incident it was silly and needless from him but pathetic from the goalkeeper

Congratulations to Limerick. No complaints here. Get well Joe Canning. The final should be a great one. Galway Abu!

Did any body see the keeper giving gillane a dart of the hurl back a short time late? The camera showed it, or did ye miss that??

Agree with most of your post. I dont think it's as much a case of not turning up but that we put a limit on what we could achieve by sticking too long with the sweeper. From the 2nd quarter on until the last 10 mins we played the game on Limericks terms. We made far too many unforced defensive errors, particularly on our puck outs. For most of the game our inside forwards were living off scraps. Whelan and Concannon showed what might have been had they got decent ball played to them in an orthodox set up and not have to beat 2 opponents every time the ball came their way.
One thing that can be taken from today is that Limerick are beatable, especially if you dont give them too much respect like we seemed to do. On last nights display Waterford are well equipped to do it but you'd also expect Limerick to play better in the final.

Yes I think that's a fair point regarding the 3rd game in a row and Galway probably don't have the same panel yet as the other teams either. I still do think they'll see this as a massive opportunity missed. I really expected them to win today. Mannion is always good for 5-6 points so maybe that was the difference in the end.
On a side note I don't get why David Burke is seeing so little game time. He's too important to Galway to be taken off. Throw him in full forward if need be as he has done in the past but I really don't get the logic of taking off your biggest leader.

Good summary. Your goalkeeper is also not capable of playing the game that is being asked of him and it's evident throughout the championship.
I don't think anyone needed today to see that limerick are beatable. They're being almost totally judged on two hammerings of tipp. I think they are most certainly beatable and Galway could have won today if it wasn't for a tonne of mistakes that lead to scores.
Also why can't Galway go for goals against anyone else apart from Tipp?!!

Pathetic. I hope you are never walking away from someone and they then hit you in the back with a hurley. Don't forget Gullane is 6ft+ and probably 14 stone of muscle. So while u think it is a tip we cannot alway be as tough as you

Saw that alright as they looked straight at each other not when the other person had his back completely turned. No accounting for class I suppose.

Carrying an injury from the football over the summer I think.

Hopefully Canning will be ok and the stretcher was only a precaution. Neck injuries arent great.

He tapped him... Stupid thing to do and no one would defend him but to make out that he whacked the goalie.. Get a grip.

Yes it obviously was a tactic they were coached because both incidents J.Canning and E.Murphy were struck in the lower back where the kidneys are with the hurl.

Dont really know what point you're trying to make, Gillane shouldn't have done it but the goalkeeper milked it too.

A minute later with the camera on them the goalie butted Gillane with the hurley but Gillane only laughed at him
