Replying To jimbodub:  "The forward mark is ridiculous

Don't care if Dublin have got a few from it

That's not football"
Agree, the forward mark is terrible.

And this is what we face year on year. At least the likes of Cavan and tipp etc can hope for a provincial title. Those of us in Leinster can't.

Is GAA unique in having so many rule changes?"
No it isnt at all.
Lots of sports regularly change rules. Just look at rugby. Changes big and small every single season

Cavan were game but the Dubs are just a different level. Every time they worked the ball inside it looked like it could be a goal, and definitely there was a huge gap in terms of conditioning.

The efficiency of the Dubs is very impressive, they almost never take on speculative shots.

Replying To Tirchonaill1:  "Funny I'm feeling no buzz about this game at all, I think Mayo v Tipp will be better to watch, the more I think on Cavan v Dublin it's a miss match when you really study it.
I just don't think Cavan are going to be able to hold Dublin, they are just too good all over the field, I hope it's not over by half time and I hope Cavan do well but I just think it's going to finish up being a bit of a hammering.
I'll check back this evening but I'm saying Dublin by around 15 points at a canter."
By jes I was spot on, wish I'd take my own advice!!

For the neutral that was an exceptional game of football. End to end stuff. What a cracker! Great advertisement for our national game.

Replying To ulsterrules:  "Great year for cavan well done. Beaten by the all Ireland champions is no shame at all. Hard to compete when clubs like kilmacud crokes have more funding than cavan senior team. But as all dubs will tell you funding doesn't help, home advantage doesn't help and the best one we will play anywhere ;-)"
Aye and to top it all off. If you even think of having a cut at them, you've a panel of referees who will flat out refuse to give penalties against them and give you a red card for going to the trouble of complaining about it.

15 points and it could have Ben more. The gap is widening

Fair play to Cavan tonight, left everything on the pitch. For an outsider to win at any time everything must go your way, including a lucky break or two and maybe a fortunate free or two but an outsider never gets that and more so of late.

15 point loss is going down fighting?? And no I am not saying Meath did any better actually they did worse. But this yerra talk is embarrassing, just admit there is no other county that can get close to Dublin at the moment, don't be afraid to admit it.

No it would not because the other counties in ulster would not have voted and supported the machine of dublin . Look it up kildare meath Wickford etc have consistently supported every change in leinster that supports dublins dominant position all for a few crumbs off the table.

Another few years of this and no neutral will watch . Its blatantly boring to watch. Over and back across the middle ad infinitum...please let there be a pull down tackle to stop this . The compromise rules was better than this rubbish.

Replying To Tirchonaill1:  "Have to agree, only for Branagan and Dublin taking it easy it could have been 20 plus points, Branagan doesn't even book the Cavan man for that dangerous frontal challenge right under his nose? This guy should never get another major inter county game, he is only an average club ref."
Terrible decision. Not acceptable whatever way the match going

It's a joke but Hoganstand won't allow a debate on it. Seems they don't want to annoy Dublin either. Gaelic Football is the sporting equivalent of North Korea now. Clap, bow down and worship Dublin.....or else!

Before everyone goes nuts

Without properly analysing things

It's a very odd championship

A team relegated into Div 3 won Ulster in 2020

I'd say as stats go that's a juicy one

A shock result against a side highly fancied to challenge

So a freshly relegated Div 3 side were playing Dublin tonight

Is the result so shocking?

Imagine a lower tier Hurling side playing Kilkenny in their pomp a few years ago in an AI semi-final..

It was a marvellous achievement for Cavan to win Ulster and they were richly and rightly congratulated

But IMO Donegal would have offered up much more as they are much more experienced at this level and have the muscle memory and top end players

It's the same down in Munster

Kerry are far too good a team to lose against Cork who they themselves were operating out of Div 3 in 2020

It's a bizarre championship season

So really the Dubs won as they were expected

Dublin's main rivals didn't..

There's only really 3 or 4 teams capable of beating Dublin and Cavan isn't one of them

I still think if Mayo beat Tipp they have what it takes to really rise to the challenge

It's been a cake walk for Dublin beating teams they should be beating well

Again like Kilkenny a few years back.. ruthless when they were expected to be

The end result being that casual viewers(who constitute the majority of most sports viewership) end up scratching their heads and looking confusedly at one another every other time the ref blows his whistle.

How many seconds is the player allowed to take the kick after the mark?

Replying To avonali:  "Have to agree. This game was never a competition. It's getting boring now. They are a fabulous team but the gap is just destroying the game as a spectacle. It's time to call it out."
I'm not messing and I mean no disrespect to Cavan but it really looked like dublin didn't come out of second gear, I know some 1 else mentioned it before but it looked like a training match and if it had been our selves or Donegal that had been there it would have been semilar.

Yer miles ahead.
