If Your County Was A Premier League Club.

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

After the last few years I feel my own county is a Newcastle United of the Gaelic football world. Consistently dangerous up front and going forward but lacking at times in midfield and loose at the pack with the tendency to loose big now and again. What's your county? Can't but help but think that Mayo are the Tottenham Hotspur of GAA football. Only a bit of crack!

Up until 2018 I would have put Limerick down as maybe Leeds given the lack us success despite the history and fanbase and all the other requirements to be a successful team.

Park your car in their city at your peril!

In some ways we could be Man Utd. Our "Busby Babes" reigning in the 60's before a long drought, a legendary outsider overseeing our most recent success, the fact that we now have a much loved former player trying to bring back the glory days playing the "right way"..... Oh, and our very noisy neighbours.

Having said that, we could also be any one of Spurs, Villa, Arsenal, Everton or Leeds insofar as when we're good we're very good, and when we're bad.......

i think Meath would be leeds utd. both used to be a great team, with a dirty reputation, hit hard times and had a fall from grace. both showing signs of recovery lately and surprisingly other teams seem to want to see them back competing again. both have a massive passionate following.

Donegal remind me of Mourinhos Chelsea. two young enigmatic managers with controversial styles brought unprecedented success.

Louth remind me of Wolves. The glory days were back in the fab fifties.

Offaly are like Leeds United. Great teams in the past, but slipped down the rankings in recent years. Both have had a succession of managers down the years. Leeds are now back in the top flight, while Offaly languish in Division 3.

I would put the Galway hurlers as Everton, brilliant back in the 80s, but have never really managed to regain the glory days since, bar 2017 of course. On their day they can probably beat anyone, but you just never know which team is going to turn up. Kilkenny would definitely be Manchester United under Ferguson, with a lot of similarities between Cody and Ferguson.
