I have read all your posts and stood back for a day or two so not to post in haste. But I shudder to think that anyone from Garvaghy RD could fail to condemn such behaviours by pot stirrers,.
Thjere is two ways of looking at this flag thing ( and you Green eyed people are wrong both ways) and I feel with Ardmagh playing i top flight teams that this flag should be hidden or a public burning taken place by the owners .
One has to be aware that Ardmagh will entertain top teams at home this year, who have no interest in race, class or creed and indeed will not know why this display of gratuitous offending is taking place

There is a huge "Bloody Sunday 100 years" banner in Croke park. If Tom smith does'nt like the one about Garvaghy road, what will he do when he sees the one in Croke park!!

I did nt see alot wrong with the 1920 flag in Croke Park as its not aligned to any group or Political party.
I again say Garvaghy Rd flag was in poor taste and has no part in most right thinking GAA supporters minds.
The Gaa has stayed away from Politics ( Very difficult in NI ) and while it is difficult for Croke Park to to police all Counties , you are doing a good job.

Looking at the Television on Saturday evening I saw a large banner behind the goals to the right of the Commentary box which read
Garvaghy Road Orangemen on Tour or something similar,
Anyone that would be familiar with the words on this flag would and should feel that it would be offensive to a vast number of people living in Portadown ( Non Gaa suporters) because of history.
I feel that the Ulster Council should take a stand on this type of material which in my opinion has no place in the GAA" You haven't a lot to be doing when starting a post about this what a pointless a ridiculous topic. Grow up and see it for what it was

Where are you living? politics are in every form of life on this island and especially in the northern part and denial does not help.

I can tell you that a lot of difference exists between the 1920 flag in Croke Park and Garvaghy Road flag.
The Garvaghy Rd flag may/could be deemed to be provocation .
Just remember why the name Garvaghy Road come to be so prominent and you will understand why I posted my post

As I said just remember why Garvaghy Road came to prominence..
It was because Unionist people could not March on the Queens own Highway and as such a standoff ensued,
This lasted for several days with grown people making a stand.
I feel that to honour/commemorative/ make reference to this event wil not improve community relations.

As with Orangemen on Tour, it's merely a tongue in cheek way to actually be inclusive of our Unionist neighbours by noting the similarities between us. The intent is entirely benevolent.
For a GAA fan to have intended this to be "offensive", they'd logically also need to believe that the GAA is deeply offensive to Unionists. No GAA fan believes that; and the GAA is not offensive to Unionists anyway. Sure, you'll get a few well-known MPs "currying their yoghurts" and still being stuck in the past, but where I live, our Unionist neighbours wish us well when the local club is competing in the county championship; we have shared youth training days with local rugby and soccer clubs etc.
To actually be offensive to Orangemen, the banner would have needed to say something derogatory. It didn't, unless you believe that the words "on tour" somehow are "offensive"; in which case you need your head examined.
Po-faced outsiders often fail to realise the black humour at play between the 2 main communities in the North. We're a lot more comfortable with each other than outsiders think. Unemployed yahoos in Belfast divided by peace walls are not representative of rural people of either community in the North.
OP's comment derives from outdated ignorance." agree, the dark days are mostly over and I know of two protestants playing for my club back home at senior level, it is nice to see and no one gives a F. The walls in belfast are pretty much what you are saying. most of that city doesn't care aside from the dole folk. The north isn't the west bank believe it or not.

Well said game of thrones it is over and done with but alas it had to happen I have two little granddaughters living in belfast and they are members of the new gaa club in East Belfast when in kerry for there summer hols with us they go to the cul camp
