Ulster Final Moving Away From Clones

(Oldest Posts First)

With the news last week that the Casement Park redevelopment will likely now take place, how do people in Monaghan feel about the Ulster Final moving away from Clones? Was there a feeling of inevitability about it because of the poor state of the stadium in Clones? Or was there hopes that maybe the facilities in St Tiernach's could be developed to a modern standard?

Personally I'll miss Ulster Final days in Clones massively. There's no town that I've been to that has the same atmosphere on match day. The craic of standing out the back of the Roost Drinking cans that you bought in supervalu because the bar is too crowded is something that can't be beat. If Ulster Final day is moved to Belfast, I'm afraid it won't be the same.

Clones a third world stadium.

Clones is a dump of a town with not a decent bar or restaurant in it.

However come big championship games there is no where better in Ulster for the buzz and atmosphere.

Surrounds of the field remind me of an old Eastern Bloc soccer stadium. Will agree the town has buzz and atmosphere on Final Day.

Plenty of bars. What class of a restaurant are you looking for? Michelin Star or just something good on TripAdvisor? I'm usually happy with a cup of tea and a mars bar at half time myself. Maybe you might like a prawn sandwich. You might get one of those in Casement.
