Replying To CiarraiMick:  "Yeah I forgot about Kilkenny. On Kearney though he was a fine footballer too and unlucky in some ways to lose out in 2011 especially. For sure football is the biggest obstacle to Dublin hurling(that's why we gave you a good Kerryman Datragh Ó Connell lol) the same as hurling an obstacle to football in Cork. Its a pity really cos even as neutrals we are missing out on seeing some great talent playing.Con Ó Callaghan is def a class hurdler and would walk on any county team."
I know it's probably not feasible. But if the football and hurling could be played at different times during the year, it would give players a chance to play both.

That's true CC, this year we're running off both comps in 8 weeks so you could realistically run off both in 16 weeks or say 20 weeks giving 4 weeks between the 2 comps..

Are dual players at intercounty level not just a bit selfish. Spread the wealth I say

Just copped my spelling there Jimbo. Meant class hurdler of course and spelt Conal Kearney wrong too. Very observant of you and sorry was so slow on the uptake to your wit lol

To be honest Ciarraí I never really rated Keaney as a footballer. Decent but felt from a Dublin GAA point of view he didn't bring anything to the footballers that a number of others couldn't have brought, whereas the hurlers really missed him in the mid to late 00s.

When he did come back I thought he was a shadow of the hurler he could have been.

I'm not trying to put him down and have a lot of respect for him, having been on the receiving end of his skill on number of occasions I couldn't not have respect for him!

We will agree to differ mesa is. I always had time for hom as a footballer as well as a hurler. I thought he was a better forward than two of the forwards that won medals in 2011 but yes his best years of hurling passed him by.

Great entertainment today...Monaghan v Cavan was epic...Hurling had loads of great scores. Our national games are a treasure. Rugby was a load of nonsense...thank god for the GAA.

It only makes sense at the lower tiers where the number of clubs and players are too small. Dublin, Tipp, Limerick don't need dual intercounty players. There's enough footballers and hurlers living in the counties.

100% agreed.
It was a tonic having it back, the Cavan/Mon game and Don/Tyr games in particular were excellent. Imagine the atmosphere if those games were in front of full houses.
The knockout element definitely added to the tension.

Another epic weekend awaits, there will almost certainly be a penalty shoot-out in amongst all the drama, will it be in the hyde ;-)

So just to bring a dose of reality to your entertainment needs lads

Do you think Sligo will be able to field a team against Galway wIth such a concerning covid-19 breakout?

Let's hope it's only contained within the panel

But that's highly unlikely isn't it

Now that we're into it, I'm glad these are being played.

There's been progress on the Covid front.

Hopefully there won't be many cases of counties having to give walkovers and that the eventual winners triumphs aren't devalued.

Winners wouldnt be devalued because of getting a walkover if one was to occur
