Ever before the pandemic he waffled about other things, took them back, changed what he said and had to be corrected by Tom Ryan and others. I wish him all the best in life and only my opinion.

Supersub15 if the term "elite" means nothing why did someone come up with in the first place ? If it was a no value status to anyone ? Would it be to allow certain sports to continue or have more privileges that others ? It could be certainly under an umbrella to allow sports people that earn their living play. However that is flawed because under that umbrella it allowed many others who are not professionals and in the work place avoid the regulations be potential spreaders the same as everyone else.. Many others lost their jobs and business other than professional sport. Probable no one in the GAA wanted elite status what ever that was meant to be but I would wager that many wanted to be able to play safely in their local field. Many mental health issues could have been avoided. Many parents could have been saved the stress of dealing withered kids and yes I do believe this could have been done in a safe manner. Yes this is in my opinion is where the baby was thrown out with the bath water. Canuck (Waterford) - Posts: 3035 - 15/04/2021 14:15:07 2337304 Link 1 |

Yes this is in my opinion is where the baby was thrown out with the bath water - - also as a previous poster pointed out, the only loss to elite status was March, so my question is if we had elite status would it have been helpful towards putting together a structured and meaningful training program where deemed necessary and helpful that would tick all the boxes so to speak, if it wasn't helpful then what good is elitism in circumstances like we are experiencing now, that is the point I was trying to make. . supersub15 (Carlow) - Posts: 3173 - 15/04/2021 21:29:49 2337351 Link 0 |
Yeah,I only checked what China owns of American debt after submitting my post and yes you're right, that's what Google says alright. The US economy is in a serious situation with all the debt and I understand China has no debt. At the moment China is manufacturing a huge proportion of goods for the western world on a contract basis and it needs that to continue. It will be a very serious issue for China if it doesn't continue long-term into the future. I'm sure the Chinese are aware of this and have a plan. ONdeDITCH (Limerick) - Posts: 873 - 15/04/2021 21:55:44 2337361 Link 0 |
Its mind boggling the top four owners of USDebt 1.) Japan 2.) China 3.) Uk 4.) Ireland - yes Ireland surreal. arock (Dublin) - Posts: 4953 - 15/04/2021 23:49:26 2337371 Link 0 |
Ireland appears on the list because it's a tax haven for American corporations and used as a tool to avoid repatriation tax, you'll probably find the Cayman Islands fairly high up the list as well. There's also a suspicion that China's real holding is actually much higher than it appears, time will tell. AfricanGael (UK) - Posts: 1947 - 16/04/2021 10:13:11 2337379 Link 1 |
Well this thread has had some strange twists but going into the relationship between a countries debt and the foreign currency reserves was not something I would ever have foreseen. I think this forum should keep all questions about economics to Dublin getting too much money from the GAA! zinny (Wexford) - Posts: 1956 - 16/04/2021 14:59:19 2337405 Link 0 |
The forum or just this thread?

If everyone has masks on and sit in every third seat and take the usual precautions like washing hands, etc you'd think it would be all right. I see baseball stadiums having fair crowds at their games.

You'd like to think it would be approved. Fingers crossed.

Maybe proof of vaccine would be a requirement too.

however even next year things will have to change - I cannot see the hill lasting - not that contact tracing is anything to talk about right but the hill really makes everyone a close contact

By then won't everyone have the vaccine? And they can still enforce the mask thing and take temps at entry points.

Good luck to anyone trying to enforce mask wearing at a game in Croke Park. You'd want to be desperate to even want to go to a game wearing a mask.

Taking every individuals temperature and possible refusal of entry, plus wearing masks outdoors, yep good luck with that one. realdub (Dublin) - Posts: 8746 - 25/04/2021 18:39:31 2338720 Link 6 |
