That might be true, and so are the Horse racing lobby and also the IRFU and FAI.

Replying To AfricanGael:  "So your logic is that nobody would spend this money if it wasn't for the GAA, the whole country is depending on the sale of a few pints, bloody hell has the country developed at all ! If you want to use that flawed logic, we can also say that the money which wasn't spent in that way last year was better spent on home improvements and the likes, but of course it's all worthless leprechaun economics."
Are you deliberately missing the point to suit your argument, or are you just dumb?
Where did I say that no one would spend money if it wasn't for the gaa?
I said that the gaa contributes a lot to irish society, and the Irish economy and that shouldn't be forgotten.

It seems that there is going to be no major announcement today with regard to the GAA except that intercounty teams can go back training (plus some underage training). Various media outlet sources seem to be indicating that there won't be any intercounty games allowed till at least May and even that seems to be subject to cases not rising. Also, I have heard a number of intercounty managers saying that they would like to have some form of a condensed league campaign to help prepare for championship. My view is that we won't see club games until a large proportion of the population is vaccinated; whenever that will be - later in the year!!! I think best case scenario, condensed league played in May, intercounty championship to start in June and club championship starting in September; this is my optimistic view. On the pessimistic side, intercounty championship played this year and no club championship until 2022 due to the new variant which would not allow restrictions to be lifted until vaccination program rolled out to a large portion of the population.

I'd agree with that. I'd be hopeful though that IF we get our vaccination rollout properly ramped up as the Government are promising that the options will become clearer. The data from countries such as Israel is very promising with regard to the effect that vaccines are having.

If county training resumes mid April then you'd be looking at mid May for any league campaign beginning. 4 league games would mean realistically the Championship wouldn't begin until late June/early July. I think the Championship will have to be knockout if there's any hope for room for club action.

Lockjaw I would agree, I think the championship will be run as a knock-out championship, same format as last year. It is just a case of getting some collective training done, some league games played and then straight into a knock out competition. It is the club championship that I would be worried about as our government haven't show no signs that they are going to be able to vaccinate the required number of people before Autumn, in my opinion but we live in hope.

So there was no need for your big list then was there, the way you were going, it wouldn't have been long before you listed underpants as an expenditure which could be solely attributed to the Gaa, although ironically it would probably be true for some.

Agree they usually go away, might need to get a loo flush to block the drain but they go.

I think this is still all undecided. It will be May before people can really train.
