Jumping on the Bandwagon

Aughnamullen, your partitionist drivel is pathetic and this is the last time I will answer it. The reason your North Monaghan co-workers identify with Ulster, rather than with you and your ilk, is because of fools who dismiss them as "nordies". Have a bit of respect in the future.

I am astonished at the Aughnamullen poster. Do you not know the history of the county we live in? Half of our Parish of Errigal Truagh which is in Co Monaghan was in Co Tyrone before the troubles. Part of the present Tyrone set up [ backroom]grew up in Our Parish. We have very strong connections with Tyrone and the present players, mentors etc know and appreciate that.
Theyre always on hand with the Sam to visit our schools etc and even without it theyre very obliging as well.

Rest assured the poster posing as Aughnamullen has as much connection with the Sarsfields as Prince Philip .Its a pity such impostors are not outed and their true identity revealed .For the record we have the height of respect and admiration for Tyrone. One of the contributing factors to the revival in Aughnamullen fortunes in recent years was an address given by Peter Canavan to a large assembly of underage and adult players and supporters at a dinner dance a few years ago.Thankfully his words of wisdom and encouragement will last a lot longer than some of the silly drivel posted on this site

Thanks for that explanation, Decco, you have reassured us and restored the fine reputation of the gaels of Aughnamullan.

try living in drogheda. small part of the town is in meath.if your not from the town you would think that all of drogheda was in meath with the amount of jerseys in the town.but it was not all bad this year after their defeats to wexford and limerick.typical meath lads.when they win they cross over the border and be all rowdy.when they loose they hibernate till the next game.

did banty not tip kerry to win the game at every talk show he attended and on the up for the game show for a county manager who has had no success he seems to be at every photo oppurtunity now its the ulster team which is usually for retirees mc eniff and art mc crory and now kiernan banty concentrate on how you are going to get monaghan over the line and i can assure you monaghan fans if you were passing through tyrone with the sam maguire not many red hands would turn out

In relative terms Banty has been a success. Only Sean McCague has been more sucessful than Banty for Monaghan. I don't agree with all of his team selections or use of subs at times but I still think its better being a Monaghan supporter over the last 4 years than the previous decade and a half. Bar one win against Donegal in 95 and another against Fermangh in 2001 we hadn't a great pile to shout about. We normally got one championship game a season and that only doubled when the back door system came in. Colm Coyle did improve things in 2003 but since Banty took over we have graced Croker on a number of occasions and even lifted a trophy in the lower hogan. We are competing regularly at a higher level and while we are a good way off being a genuine All-Ireland contender I think most Monaghan fans enjoy and look forward to macthes

Ollie, the Meath lads like to parade around Bailieboro and Kingscourt too when they win but they always seem to hibernate when they lose as you already stated. Saw a few Wexford jerseys around those towns in the Summer though.

As an Ulster neighbour, with all the ties cultural, economic, social and political, of course we're happy to see Tyrone win the All Ireland.

Re Jumping on the Bandwagon can you imagine the same level of euphoria in Ballygawley, Errigal Ciaran, all the other wee areas that border on North Monaghan, were we to pull it off? They'd be happy for us, realise it raises the standing of Ulster football, but I can't see them bring out marching bands etc.

Now I'm convinced Anaghmullen is'nt really from Monagahan! He does not sound like a Monaghan man,he sounds a bit bitter maybe its all that abuse he got from Tyrone fans when officiating at Ulster matches in Clones (It could beg the question "which came first") God help us if we still have people like D'wan who can't afford a wee bit of respect to our own neighbours. We hav'nt been up that road to HQ that many times in the last 20 years or so but when we have we have always had good wishes bestowed on us by all our Ulster neighbours. Its not our fault that half of Ulster counties have to pass through Monaghan to get up and Down from Dublin.Mind you Cavan would't have to but thats unlikely to happen very soon either.Ulster abu! If Monaghan can't win Sam next year then I'll metaphorically be following any Ulster team thats left in it after us and may I also say that includes Cavan.Come on Banty and the boys we're going to have to do it the hard way next year,Derry first then Tyrone or Armagh if we manage to get past them thats potentially 3 of the top 10 favs for next year.

We'll fight them on the beaches, we'll fight them in the drumlins. We'll give them another Battle of the Bogside. Blow kisses to Brolly, 'feed farts' to their backs, cheat to get players sent off - I was there the last time. Even though we've got the better of them over the last few outings, memories of our the last time in Celtic Park boils the blood.
