Galways record in div 1 since they went up is excellent. Winning league title for this Galway would be great boost. From what Joyce is saying hes wants to win the league. Take any young team kerry , Donegal or Mayo and also Tyrone winning a national league div 1 would be important. To win a national title. It would be a good foundation to try and take Dublin on. The league can be downplayed but I would never downgrade the importance of winning div 1 league title . You find most All Ireland winners have won div 1 league title also. Look at all the league titles this current Dublin won. Its an important part of develop for a team. Furlong1949 (Meath) - Posts: 1067 - 20/01/2020 19:34:07 2261184 Link 7 |

Not a hope of Meath not getting points.

Can we all agree all teams are missing players. Let's get over the sob stories. At no time in any sport are you going to get a full squad injury free. The_Fridge (Tyrone) - Posts: 2105 - 20/01/2020 20:44:49 2261201 Link 1 |

Think meath will go down along with 1 of the Ulster teams, final really depends where Dublin and Kerry are in there training etc. bostonredsox (Wexford) - Posts: 4368 - 20/01/2020 21:11:45 2261211 Link 0 |

We are seriously depleted at the start of the league and with LYIT making the Sigerson we could be even more down. We're still without Paddy Mc Grath, Eoin Ban, Jason Mc Gee, Oisin Gallen & Paddy Mc Brearty through injury or away. I think there's still 5 more with Sigerson commitments. Mayo will never get a better chance of 2 points in Ballybofey. Tir Conaill Abu (Donegal) - Posts: 1686 - 20/01/2020 23:24:09 2261234 Link 0 |

Won't be putting any bets on this game so. Will be a good opportunity to see what both teams have coming through.

Will be a big chance for new and fringe players on both teams...away game in Ballybofey, I'd take a draw right now...maybe both teams would

I feel that the ladies game does not get enough attention on here as in many other public forums for me. We have feelings too and I feel we should get more exposure. We train hard in all weather and no recognition. I think it is regrettable that we have this misogyny permeates through the GAA.

Agree, looks like majority of Division One teams will have to rely on lads who would not start if all were fit, a chance for some panel members to show their worth. Also think it will be a Kerry/Galway final. Not sure where Meath are at, great to get promotion last year, however many of the teams we played in Div Two were missing several. Little comparison to their championship teams. Super 8s were a bit of an eye opener but nonetheless great experience which hopefully will stand to us this year. Sundays game is a great test and should throw some light on where Meath football is at present.

But we were missing players last year also. Fair is fair. Where the best footballers in Meath last year playing for Meath ? no. Every week last year on Meath forum there was debate how this player is not playing and we are missing this player and the best players in Meath were not playing for Meath. Lke all teams outside div 1 we were losing 11, 12 plus players a year. Look at Cavan and Roscmoon have lost players this year when they back in div 2. If we get relegated we will also lose players next year. Anyway we were missing in last years league were Joey Wallace , Eamon Wallace , Ronan Jones, Brian Conlon, Paddy Kennelly, Donal lenihan, Alan Forde ( and Padraig Harnan missed the whole league) and Shane Walsh ( Andy called Shane up to the panel last year and and he was training with the team before Christmas but had to drop out of the panel in January to concentrate on his leaving Cert studies, and not returning to play his first game in August in the last game of the year v kerry). We were missing some of the best players in the county eg the best forward in the county eg D lenihan , best midfielder in the county eg R Jones and some of the best footballers in the county eg B Conlon, J Wallace, S Walsh. Fair is fair we were missing player in the last few years, especially last year. Great news they are back this year. And the addition of new players like Shane Walsh , Jack O Connor , Matthew Costello , Jordan Morris , Daithi McGowan , Robin Clarke , David Toner and Dominic Yorke to the panel this year and the return of ex panelist/players like Joey Wallace, Eamon Wallace, Ronan Jones, Brian Conlon , Paddy Kennelly, Donal Lenihan and the calling up of ex Galway Footballer Oisin O Brien to the panel means the Meath panel when everyone is fit will be much stronger then this year, then last year. All these new players some of the best footballers in Meath who werent playing for Meath last year is a positive and hugely helpful addition in Andy McEntees attempt to keep Meath in div 1. When you compare the depth of the Meath panel now and additions now to the super 8 panel Meath had last summer and in the spring; there is significant and hugely positive changes. One example last year we had 3 midfield option Brian Menton, Shane McEntee ( wing back) and Adam Flanagan. This year we have these 8 midfield options eg Brian Menton , Shane McEntee , Brian Conlon , Ronan Jones ( after March ), Paddy kennelly , Thomas Murtagh and Daithi McGowan. These are all the midfielders McEntee has called up to the senior panel. Throughout all of last year he had 3 or 4 midfield options which included a half. Only 2 out and out midfielders on the panel last year compared to the 7 Andy currently is working with. When he has to trim down the panel he will have difficult choices who drop of his midfield options. For example When Shane McEntee was injured v Clare in the qualifier to get into the super 8s we had to bring on a 20 year old corner back to replace him as we had no other options. Last year Andy had 3 midfielder. He currently has 8 on the panel. And Ethan Devine could also play midfield , that brings up to 9. New manager bounce, less injuries, should have the Corofin lads for most of the league and they reached the league final in 2018 let's not forget.
