I have to say I was disappointed to hear of his departure. I can't really figure out the reasoning behind it. The man is an encylpedia of GAA knowledge and an excellent commentator. No doubt he'll be whipped up by RTE's rivals. Bon (Kildare) - Posts: 2336 - 18/01/2020 12:02:21 2260578 Link 1 |
RTE making some bizarre decisions of late, the like of this and giving the likes of tubridy and ray d'arcy small fortunes.

Brian was a great GAA man, and a committed Roscommon supporter. I don't why he is leaving RTE, but it will be hard to replace him. thelongridge (Offaly) - Posts: 1879 - 18/01/2020 12:54:24 2260582 Link 1 |
RTE queuing up the yes men. Shocking decision, a brillant commentator. moc.dna (Galway) - Posts: 1212 - 18/01/2020 14:40:58 2260591 Link 0 |
Tell me 5 people in RTE who aren't worth their wage.

I thinks it's a dreadful decision but I agreed with them when they gave Brolly the road. But I am curious as to how you have put Brian in a group of dissenting voices? I doubt they are cutting him due to his outrageous opinions!!

RTE going down the tubes....bland and sterile. I don't agree with Brolly but like Dunphy you need someone to disagree with on tv. yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 11587 - 18/01/2020 16:17:49 2260608 Link 17 |

brilliant commentator, bad decision by RTE.... loved his commentaries, especially the sat. champ games! Monaghan Exile (Monaghan) - Posts: 444 - 19/01/2020 14:59:47 2260761 Link 1 |
If RTE go bust we end up like USA with nothing but fox news peddling the likes of Trump and other right wing loons

Would listen to games just to hear this mans commentary. Will hopefully join up with another gaa show. RTE haven't got a clue about GAA and how to deliver it to the public. DLlegends (Donegal) - Posts: 503 - 19/01/2020 15:36:17 2260772 Link 2 |
I actually have never seen a more dumb comment as that and im a good few years here now.... What has right wing loons or trump got to with the sacking of brian carthy!!!! Rte are shooting themselves in the foot getting rid of our best studio analysists and now commentators...

'High,High,High over the Bar' in a shrill shriek..Brian Carthy is a terrible commentator. It's about time they showed him the door. bloodyban (Limerick) - Posts: 1710 - 19/01/2020 16:27:25 2260787 Link 4 |
Yeah, was looking for someone to agree with that he's not that good. Mind you, his replacement may not be much better, we'll wait and see
