Lads are in Bali as we speak, St Stephen in sporting a sling on his right arm. Looks like Even will see the League. Dessie is taking charge of his first game on the 11th in the OBC, an awful lot of the lads still on holiday, Deano is in Oz i believe and the Boden lads are out this week end in the club semi in Breffni, with all that i think we will have a make shift side next week and the first league in Croker on the 25th. Yep, saw a pic taken yesterday of the guys on the beach in Bali. Fully deserved holiday. Great to see Cluxton with them. Deano is away and the Boden lads as you say will not be available. Great opportunity for others to try to take the next step. Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 3684 - 02/01/2020 17:07:31 2256936 Link 1 |
Will be interesting to see the squad, I think Dessie will cast the net wide, we have some untapped talent in Dublin that didn't get the nod under Jim for whatever reason and talent breaking through, should be interesting. It's Longford in Pearse Park on the 11th. TheUsername (Dublin) - Posts: 4441 - 02/01/2020 20:04:23 2256970 Link 4 |
Cluxton confirmed for this year. As is MDMA & Connolly. Jackeen (Dublin) - Posts: 4097 - 10/01/2020 13:36:07 2258711 Link 12 |
Will be interesting to see how Dublin and Kerry fare out in the opening games of the league considering they're just back from Holiday. Is it just the two teams in the All Ireland final that go on a foreign holiday and is it payed by their respective county boards or by the GAA HQ???

Well we pay for our own holiday down here in kerry anyway as we pay for everything out of our own pockets, our county board put a €10 levy on allireland final tickets that goes towards the holiday.

If you ever win an AI again I'm sure that the KCB will pay for you to go to Center Parcs. It's not like they can't afford it with all of the dollars coming in from Kerry Group, the myriad of sponsors, the US and of course Minister Brendan Griffin.

The all ireland winners in both codes get a grant of around €80,000 each towards a team holiday.

Pretty experimental team named for Dessie's first game: TheUsername (Dublin) - Posts: 4441 - 10/01/2020 21:46:06 2258849 Link 4 |
Will Con's brother be in and around it this year? Kerry15 (Kerry) - Posts: 954 - 10/01/2020 23:52:14 2258863 Link 0 |
Niall is young, that bit younger then Con, but has been shooting the lights out for Culala seniors and underage, he has come on leaps and bounds in about 18 months. Was Culala player of the year, which is a great accolade given how many All Ireland's County and club medals that are in that dressing room and his young age. Everyone seems to be talking about the team Dublin had out on Sunday but yet people don't seem to be mentioning the fact Longford were missing over half their starting team from last year. Oddball (Roscommon) - Posts: 886 - 14/01/2020 11:21:48 2259669 Link 1 |
Well done Longford .

Spot on. Great result for Longford. Some of those Dubs are no slouches either and are tagged as future stars so would not undervalue the result........even if the ref gifted them 4 late frees to win the game <- joke!

Why are Dublin permitted into the competition at the semifinal stage? Everyone else had to play 3 games to qualify. Same last year, apparently? keeper7 (Longford) - Posts: 4088 - 14/01/2020 19:34:35 2259791 Link 0 |
By rule Dublin were not allowed to start collective training until the end of December competition had already started in mid December. It was either that or they pull out altogether.
