Replying To therealtmo:  "How do you think John Kiely will deal with this ? I know when one of own in Tipp was dropped in 2017 some people said it cost us the all Ireland that year. Jackie Tyrell reckoned if that player was not missing Tipp May have won the All Ireland. Can you see JK going down that road and if not could it all come back to bite him later in the year."
Has to lay down a marker. Wouldn't be surprised if they were thrown off the panel. They deserve it.
To be honest I'd say his actions will be determined by the responses of the players involved.

If the two idiots are genuinely sorry and take it on the chin, they might be gone for the league.
I know for definite other players in the set up very unhappy with them... Whether it'll cost us in the long run is anyones guess.
We've had a fantastic run since 2018 and kiely definitely needs to show them whose boss.

Never mind him. I am sure he is delighted to have of 'them' managing his county team.

Well none of them put a glass in a man's face or calmly embezzled old people of of large amounts of money that we know of anyway.

I think Limerick will be fine without the players involved in punch up and burning incident but the film maker and icon boxer would be a huge loss to the panel.
This happens in most if not all counties and look boys will be boys but sometimes things go too far and get out of hand.
Genuinely I hope this doesn't affect Limerick they are a fantastic team and will be for years another all Ireland or two in that team yet.

Well if we have men who are convicted of serious crimes they should not wear the green and white jersey again or be involved in the management of our team either. I believe that should apply in any county. There should be zero tolerance for this kind of thing.

whats that go to do with what we are talking about now. Both acts were disgraceful I'm not the one on the defensive here. You obviously haven't heard what happened in Cancun on the team holiday last year so in regards to your first sentence. There is no place for any of this carry on, these young lads are heroes to young kids and are firmly in the spot light. This sort of carry on shouldn't be happening no matter what County players are involved, let it be Tipp, Limerick, Galway etc.

My point is unless lengthy banishment for those involved from county panels takes place after events like this things will not change. Receiving people back with open arms is hardly good enough. As you rightly point out these men are role models and must be aware of that.

I'm sure he'll be welcomed back into the fold by his club.
Is that ok ?
He's a role model there too I'm sure and even more so.

Relax Oldtourman and I would suggest you withdraw the the comment on " men who are convicted of serious Crimes" from your previous statement. Keep to the facts and lees of the high drama. The facts are bad enough as it is and let due process take its place. Roll on the playing season.

You are probably right- that was a bit over the top. However in an age when the one punch attack, with all its possible awful consequences, is so much in the news young men, sportsmen or not, should be loath to get involved in this kind of activity.

Colm O'Rourke lambastes the whole thing in today's Sindo. And everything he has written in it about the GPA is totally spot on.

I think Colm O'Rourke not only lambasted the whole charade but it was just one part of an even bigger piece, not reflected around here mind you, of the death of the club game and GAA's utter dependancy on volunteerism. This volunteerism is at odds with the waste of money spent by pseudo organisations like the GPA. It will drive these volunteers out of the game and endanger an already disillusioned club scene. The Inter County scene is totally dependant on volunteers to make it viable, from young lads and lasses playing the sport to the yellow vests you see at all games given their time for nothing and when they say "for what?" what then?

Sure nearly every single club is guilty as well. Paying outside managers. The greatest waste of money you'll ever see. Our own club are currently not paying anyone but are now fully on board that one is required. Goodbye club lotto.

These days with players running the show it's completely over rated the role of a manager. They're important but not €10k important for a small club. What about big clubs paying €30k? Have they nobody in their own club who'll do it for very little?

All the pro sports still manage to have an amateur club scene and plenty of volunteers so I think the GAA will be fine. Youde swear sometimes we were the only sport ever had a volunteer

Dont agree. In rugby there's a clear distinction between professional and amateur. In GAA everything is blurred and that's the problem. Volunteers will not volunteer if they know others within the club are getting backhanders.

Couldn't agree with you, all you have to do is look at the club rugby, it's a shadow of its self, if we go pro gaa, it will be the end of the local gaa.

I dont want professional GAA I just think the post above that I replied to goes way over the top. And the old glory days of club rugby are wildly exaggerated. yes some big clubs have smaller attendances now but overall there are more clubs now all of whome have volunteers

I am telling you now the sun does not rise in the east and there is no professionalism in the GAA. It used be only in Croke Park but now it exists at junior clubs in Ballygobackwards. Get over it amateurism as we know it will have to exists or die along side some form of paid service or professionalism if that is what you want to call it. The only question is what REGULATED form with declared income will serve the games best. There are vested interests in keeping a major portion of it under the table now.
