Waterford Hurlers In 2020

(Oldest Posts First)

The experience and leadership of Michael 'Brick' Walsh will be a huge loss to Waterford in 2020. He made his debut in 2003 and accumulated 76 championship appearances since then. I see Liam Cahill has came in and made a few notable changes already. He has dropped Noel Connors and Maurice Shanahan. A huge call dropping Connors who was captain last season. Add in the fact Tadhg de Burca is out for the league with a cruciate ligament injury. It's changing times for the Deise and could Kevin Moran follow Brick into retirement?

While the new manager has the right to make the decisions now, it is a bit strange without seeing them play or given a chance. Both are All-stars. However Liam should have total support in his decisions.
Noel has been a sterling defender for many years and who ever takes that that left full back position will be under a lot of pressure to perform. Shane Ahearne stated that Maurice was the best forward by a country mile in the Waterford championship this year. The words he used were un-markable.
Time will tell.

Maurice has been poor for Waterford of late, can't say I'm surprised there, surprised at noel Connors though....
