Which Player Holds The Record For The Most County Senior Medals?

(Oldest Posts First)

I see Brian 'Bruno' McCormack from Portlaoise won his 5th Laois SFC medal yesterday.

He actually has 16 senior championship medals when you count the one SHC he won in 2004.

Crossmaglen goalkeeper Paul Hearty has 19 Armagh SFC medals but former Tooreen and Mayo hurler Joe Henry has an incredible 24 county SHC medals in his possession!

So, which player holds the record for the most county senior championship medals?

Possibly some of that Waterford ladies club team that was reported to have won 38 county titles in a row a few weeks ago might have won more than her!

I think Michelle Ryan with 19 has the most of that Ballymacabry team.

Cora Staunton won her 21st County Title this year. It was title no 21 for 4 of the team. 20th title in a row. Cora came on as a sub and scored, remarkable considering she broke her leg in 3 places during the summer.

Our own Leighton Glynn has a total of 22 county senior medals; 12 football with Rathnew and 10 hurling with Glenealy. He has a Senior Leinster Club in football for good measure too.

Nuala Quirke won a monumental amount of medals with myshall camogie club in carlow. She could possibly have won up to 30 medals.

Paddy Quirke for Namoh Eoin-Myshall also won 16 county medals (15 hurling and 1 football)

From the Kilkenny People:

All Ireland senior camogie winning captain, Angela Downey, is regarded as one of the greatest camogie players of all time. She was a member of the Kilkenny senior team from 1970 until 1994.
From Ballyragget, at the age of 13, Angela helped her club St Paul's win their first All-Ireland club medal. When she was 15, Angela made it on to the county senior team that won 12 All Irelands, including the seven-in-a row team from 1985 to 1991. Angela won 13 Leinster medals and eight National League medals. With her two clubs St Paul's and Lisdowney she won 22 county titles and six All-Ireland club medals.

Kieran Fitzgerald won his 14th county medal yesterday. Add in 6 (I think) Connacht club championships, 3 club All Ireland's, 1 All Ireland and 3 Connachts with Galway and an All Star for good measure. That's a serious career!
