Essmac, your analysis of Kilcoo is a mile off in my opinion..they beat Magherafelt and Derrygonnelly playing within themselves and in the Ulster final outhought Naomh Conall both on the field and the sideline.
I think they'll pose Corofin more problems than Nemo did..

Every team needs luck....never underestimate a team coached by Mickey Moran....glad inbacked them today :)

Good wins for Corofin and Kilcoo. I expected Corofin to win but was surprised by the quality of football played by Kilcoo. They were extremely lucky in beating the Fermanagh champions but Mickey Moran had them in great shape today, playing with great pace and confidence. It has to be said though that B'boden were very poor. It's difficult to understand how many of the big Dublin clubs struggle in this competition. The final should be interesting with two good footballing sides.

Kilcoo have the knack of just doing enough; in the Down quarter-final they were 4pts behind in the final minutes, and they won the Down final by only one point. The 5 Branagans are formidable, and Conor Lavery is a marvel; tiny village, but a great club. Corofin will be a step-up tho

They have to travel to provincials grounds which levels the playing field in comparison to their county team who never have a straight knockout game outside their county for one

Teams aren't afraid to go at them either. Compare this to their county team where the opposition nearly always park the bus and it never works. A Longford club knocked out their champions last year. Unheard of at county level.

It is hard to beat players playing for the pride of the parish. No players from other counties parachuted in.

Mickey Moran is a class act. I hope Kilcoo win even though Corofin play football as it should be played.

LOL! You won't last 2 mins around here. Must try harder! Not a bad 1st attempt however.

Well it is my view on a question a poster posed. Wouldn't it be marvellous to see Dublin have to travel to Castlebar or Killarney for a winner takes all game. It seems to level the playing field for their clubs anyway. They struggle in provincial grounds.

Mickey Moran is the best football manager of the past generation too. His work with clubs and lower level counties such as my own as well as Mayo is excellent.

Enjoyable match and Kilcoo were better team even though the Ref made it a bit more difficult for them with some of his decisions. Before halftime 2 frees inside 20m given to Ballyboden, one which should have been a free out to Kilcoo and another one retaken when the ball was kicked wide followed by the intervention of a linesman. The Ref was very fond of black cards (maybe confused with Christmas cards!) . Some head high tackles went unpunished.
Kilcoo showed that you do not have to be weight-lifter to play football. Corofin will be difficult to beat but so will Kilcoo.

Mile off? Derrygonnelly missed enough to win it. Here's the Irish News assessment of the Derrygonnelly Kilcoo semi-final:

"The Fermanagh champions were largely the better side. Their physical advantage was one that they honed in on to great effect, dominating the kickouts from both ends and putting the Down men under sustained periods of pressure."

Ps: nor would I get too carried away about beating N Conall. In 2015, the Tyrone champs were newly promoted from Div 2 and they still managed to beat N Conall!

Look I'm delighted they beat a massive club like Boden. Just making the point that there are a handful of quite good clubs in Ulster, of which Kilcoo are one. None of them are dominant in the province like Cross or Crokes or Nemo in their heydays and I'd be surprised if Kilcoo or any of the current Ulster club contenders could handle Corofin but v happy to be proved wrong

Great win for our boys against Nemo and kilcoo against ballyboden, just watched that game now and the reff really did his best to keep boden in the game what did boden score from play? Two or three pints I'd say. Can't wait for a good final now. Thank god for club football.

A fantastic win for kilcoo..a small rural parish on the side of a mountain..a shop a church and the pitch defines its centre...compare this to the urban sprawl of South county Dublin and a team that can take its pick from anywhere in Dublin.

Which just goes to show you that size and wealth etc. don't necessarily determine results. Just saying. I have had so many posts blocked recently that I no longer know what causes and doesn't cause offence around here.

Exactly. So much for population and resources. It just goes to show that you get the right group of players together, right coaching staff, galvanise them and great things happen. I thought they were superb today. Boden looked leggy and if you insist upon throwing almost all of your players into your own half when you're 5 points down with as many minutes left while transitioning as slowly as Boden did, then you don't deserve anything from the game. Hope Kilcoo go on to win it now.

You really have to take your hat off to Kilcoo. A superbly fit, well drilled and talented footballing side who did what was asked of them. Their quick movement of the ball is quite excellent at times and they fully deserved their victory. Down sides should never be under estimated at club or county level, they have too many talented and capable footballers.

How have they the pick from Dublin?? And yes ballyboden is a massive club ,but gaa in Dublin is still not anywhere near it's potential because it's still neglected in a lot of estate's

Kilcoo have won the last 7 of 8 senior football championships in the Royal County so whats's the big deal about being a small and rural parish ? They must be raising some funds to pay for the team management of volunteers and all that mileage ploughing up and down those wee country roads for the love of the game from our wee Darrie Boys ach aren't the a class act ! Plenty of clubs up here in Derry could be doing with that free and brilliant management coaching advice ?
