Tyrone had no problem coming down to Dublin in say 2005 when Mugsy scored that wonder goal. It wasn't an issue when Tyrone and Kerry regularly kicked our asses. Not any more though.

The ABD brigade are sick to their stomachs at the thought of the Dubs seizing the golden crown of the GOAT. Hence their hysterical mudslinging with anything that comes to mind in order to remove the sheer horror of their waking nightmare. Don't think so bud. It's never been harder to win a AI. The Kerry 4 in a row team won one in 1980 playing just 3 games, qualifying to the AI series with one game, a final, in a hurling province. Dublin played 8 games last year in an era where athleticism and skill levels have never been greater and an era where systems and strategy is at an all time high. Money? What influence did this money have on developing this current squad of Dublin players many of whom were 15/16 in 2004. Wishful thinking on your part I'm afraid. This team, regardless of whether they win the 5 on the bounce, will rightly go down as the best to ever play the game up to that point in time.

Regardless of the winner of this years final, this Dublin team already have the honour Of being the greatest team to ever play the game. The lads that take to the field can't be responsible for any behind the scenes activities but as far as the 15 plus lads on the squad are concerned they have already proved that they are the best to ever play the game by their accomplishments on the field.

It's the flaw with the super 8s. Both teams will make many changes as it doesn't really matter who they play in the semis as the 3 teams in the other group are all pretty even, with mayo slightly back. There's defo nothing between Kerry and Donegal! Tizcold (Galway) - Posts: 239 - 27/07/2019 02:17:02 2216989 Link 1 |

Its gas craic altogether. Mostly the Kerry lads as well, for obvious reasons. Mad to think that this day only 8 short years ago we hadn't won an All Ireland in 16 years and the Kerry lads absolutely ''loved us'' haha ConnollyDub (Dublin) - Posts: 2007 - 27/07/2019 11:04:36 2217030 Link 5 |

I bet there isn't a single Tyrone fan who genuinely believes Tyrone can beat Dublin in a serious game. In the 00s, I tended to believe we always had a good chance. Since 2015, I don't see that we've any chance. I honestly feel the guys on every other Co team are wasting their time. I'm not even slightly interested in the next game v Dublin. Either were beat, or we scrape a win because Dublin aren't trying. Nothing to see here.

My guess is that two second strings will play. Keep your powder dry for the real war is good tactics. It still might be a good game. steve097 (Dublin) - Posts: 109 - 27/07/2019 12:43:56 2217058 Link 0 |
Let's see. Have the other counties gone backward or are Dublin getting better? Are this Tyrone team as good as the noughties team??

Yeah it would be great if we could play 19/20 players but players on our starting 15 now who were 15/16 in 2004... Cluxton Philly Cooper Fitzy Cian McCarthy MDM Rock Others in the panel and likely to play... Kevin Mc ROC Paddy Andrews Others in the panel but less likely to feature... Bernard Diarmuid EOG Darren Daly So that would be 15 of the panel off the top of my head. What would the level of funding 15 years ago have done for this backbone of the greatest team of all time. This is the same team that was getting hammered by Kerry a year and two before their breakthrough in 2011. Did a magical influx of funding in 2011 suddenly transform them in 12 months into the GOAT? That's how silly the money argument sounds in relation to this golden generation of Dublin senior footballers. Joxer (Dublin) - Posts: 4700 - 27/07/2019 22:36:59 2217318 Link 3 |
It's a simple and honest appraisal in fairness. If your good then let it be acknowledged and these Dublin lads are good. Not only are they good in my view but they are the greatest team to ever play the game. And if you meet or talk to them they are a sound bunch of lads too. At least the few I met have been.

If it was my call I'd swap in... ROC for Cooper Lowndes for Jack Gavin for Fento Paddy Small for Howard Berno for Mannion I expect a tough physical game and we need to avoid injuries but I can't see Tyrone going full strength either. Will Donnelly, Harte or Cavanagh start? The next game is more important but I still think our preference would be to remain unbeaten and to top the group. Should be another great day up in Omagh. The average age doesnt drop year on year if it's a golden generation.
