For Tyrone the issue is not a change in personnel...it's keeping the system they are trying to conceal under wraps...in a few games this year they have set up for the latter stages of the championship while at the same thing looking to conceal it..whether Mickey makes changes if not is irrelevant...he won't declare his hand in terms of tactics.. mayotyroneman (Tyrone) - Posts: 1821 - 23/07/2019 23:01:26 2215511 Link 0 |
Big shout out to the ground staff in healy park putting in some extra overtime minimising the pitch in that weather this week. Serious commitment ctowers (Dublin) - Posts: 99 - 23/07/2019 23:26:24 2215522 Link 3 |

Sure is but you might want to tell your fellow Dub poster that, he was the one that came out about the smart remark on Mickey Harte. Imagine if a Tyrone supporter got smart about Jim Gavin the uproar, we would'nt hear the end of it.

Was it not you who came out with the smart remark about the "multi million euro professional team"? Anyway, on the game, I expect the professional Dublin team to rest a couple of players but no doubt they will go for the win, as will Tyrone. Neither will want to lose a game at this stage as it would damage them psychologically with only a week to recover from the loss ahead of a semi. Any of Kilkenny, Howard, Fenton, Mannion, McCaffrey may be on the bench as Gavin won't want to risk injury either.

No smart remark there, documented fact. I can't imagine JG lowering himself to pull such a stunt.

Here here Wally. Let's have a good aul moan instead and then we can moan some more closer to the game , during the game and after the game. Down with this sort of thing.

From Tyrone's point of view It would be better to lose to Dublin. Face Kerry in the semi-final and win. Donegal then beat Dublin and we have an all ulster all Ireland final which everyone can look forward to. Byanthon (Tyrone) - Posts: 1780 - 24/07/2019 13:07:48 2215714 Link 0 |
Yea an all Ulster final is exactly is just what everybody wants.....not.

It's a strange one, not sure if this chat of resting players and squad rotation is helpful a week out from an All Ireland Semi Final, for either team. Lose the game because you rotated and then you've lost some momentum. If it took 15/20 mins for the chosen team to settle a week later in an AI semi final then it could be game over. Obviously for Dublin, they don't do panic and they are more seamless with squad changes and rotation but still feel it's not as straight forward as it all sounds and could come back to bite a team. Dublin will have more options than Tyrone and can rest a rake of them. Connolly, Brogan, O Gara, Basquelle (not sure how to spell that) and countless others. They will all be fresh for the semi. suckvalleypaddy (Galway) - Posts: 1671 - 24/07/2019 13:41:21 2215738 Link 0 |
None of those players you mentioned have played in the championship this year. Basquel isn't even in in the squad as chose to travel over the Summer I think. Jim will have two goals, win and don't lose momentum. It's going to be a real balancing act trying to get the match day panel right. Too many cold starters and we will be out of sorts I should imagine. He'll want this year's performers to hit the ground running in the semi, a tough game in Omagh is exactly what's needed. We may see Gavin in for Fenton, Lowndes for Jack, ROC for Philly. Paddy might start for Mannion all to avoid injury. I don't see a B team going out though. It's not Gavin's style so a lot of the semi starting 15 should start in Omagh.

It makes sense to protect the key men. A win is not vital and may even give a harder SF. Injuries are more likely on a subbuteo pitch. I'd like to see six past Morgan.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I remember a certain few Dubs questioning Tyrone 05 and 08 all Ireland's due to the fact they were beat once. (Jim I think, apologies if I'm incorrect). The_Fridge (Tyrone) - Posts: 2088 - 24/07/2019 20:30:41 2215960 Link 0 |
Technically yes...but if they win the five in a row that won't matter

Why would Dublin want to avoid Kerry? That would be a handy game for Dublin, a kick around before the final!

But Dublin won't be beaten in the championship this year and certainly not by Tyrone!
