Disingenuous, Disgusting, Odious, Nasty!!

Just some of the words Ewan McKenna placed ina tweet about Jim Gavin over the weekend.

I think that's very harsh if you dont know the man personally. Totally uncalled for in my view.

If people want to talk about Dublin playing two games in croke park, their finances, population etc then fine I respect that, and if people feel jim gavin comes across as a bit patronizing and boring, fine, I accept that too, but surely McKenna went over the line in describing jim as disgusting, nasty and odious..

Or maybe he didnt?

Am I just reading too much into it ? Seems very personal to me. No need for it.

He also said Shane Lowry "accepts fascism" because he didn't immediately condemn Rory McIlroy for playing a round of golf with Trump.

He's done some great work in the past but he comes out with some awful tripe.

I have to say, he can certainly come across as disingenuous at times. Maybe that's just a matter of perception.

I have never felt him to be Disgusting, Odious or Nasty.

In any case, I wouldn't lose any sleep over anything that particular "journalist" writes.

He is simply trying to bang the loudest drum to try and either get a response or stay relevant. He has attacked everything when it comes to Dublin GAA if its not funding its playing in Croke park and so on. Whatever traction he had for some of these issues he has lost a lot of it with this latest "tweet". Even the lunatics are abandoning him after it. The fact he had to had take it down and revise shows how much it was in poor taste. I don't know anything about Jim Gavin apart from what I see on t.v. media ect and he comes across as a very dignified man and is obviously an excellent manager. I hope after this Ewan McKenna and his relevance will become less and less.

I thought liking a tweet slagging off Jonny Cooper getting stabbed was worse myself, thats what your dealing with here.

Hate can be a terrible thing, i kind of feel a bit sorry for him if that is how deep it goes for him.

Didn't the Tropical Keyboard Warrior also once state that Shane Lowry would win nothing? I think that says all we need to know about our correspondent in Brazil. Saw one of his tweets and his spelling would suggest that his qualification in journalism was obtained from the same institution as Lionel Hutz's law degree. There's only one thing in life worse than being talked about and the keyboard warrior knows this.

He was very much in the Trump / Piers Morgan / Katie Hopkins vein of tweeting there. Sends an attacking tweet full of hyperbole then retracts the 'odious' part but claims the rest of what he believes is true. Then moans about the fact that he got attacked for the original tweet.

As for the Shane Lowry fascism tweet, you would be a pro-Brexit homophobe if it meant you held a door open for Arlene Foster a month after she became leader of the DUP by the same rationale.

He just wants attention, isn't that what Twitter is all about?

Very poor from Ewan.

But shows his level and true form.

The fact he took it down says it all...

I've met Jim Gavin a number of times and to see such words used to describe him is actually laughable and so unfitting that its really not worth giving this any sort of energy whatsoever.

Yep.. whatever you say Ewan lol

Disgraceful comments from a decent writer to be fair. No issue with him questioning finances etc but liking a tweet where somebody slagged Jonny Cooper getting stabbed and this latest outburst shows how he is just a laughing stock and has lost all credibility regarding his motives. He cannot be impartial where Dublin is concerned. A real pity.

People who do very little research think Ewan is some kind of brilliant, brave journalist. Most of what he writes these days is absolute garbage. His lack of knowledge on basic stuff is alarming at times. Hates Dublin, hates rugby, hates almost everything.

The saddest part of this debacle is that some people are still taking Twitter and click-bait journos seriously in 2019

he might actually be unstable , it's seems to be a common thing in journalists now to be as unstable as you can, maybe this is what there pay masters want !

Twitter is the biggest hate tool ever invented , its kinda amazing really because the owner of twitter is political left, and their biggest star on twitter is Donald Trump who is political right , and Donald Trump is the only one keeping twitter relevant ,and if they remove Donald Trump from twitter it will end up as the next myspace !

Clicks..clicks..clicks is the name off the game, don't promote these people because that's all they want.

What is it with Irish journalists who are more interested in making the news than reporting it? Those are fierce strong words and without providing anything to back them up, this reeks of a rather sad attempt to make himself relevant.

I notice that he seems to delete quite a lot of his more sensational tweets. Apparently he got burned for comments he made over a radio interview around the cricket last week. The presenter of said radio show put him on the spot and asked for the evidence, when he couldn't provide it, he just deleted all his tweets
I also spotted that he was the number 1 Irish sports journalist that tweets in terms of volume, on average he tweets 94 times a day!!! 94!!! Too much time on his hands.

According to some on twitter, he monitors message boards like this one to pick up on things being discussed, takes up all the best points and regurgitates them. He even was supposedly caught using multiple identities on another message board and got caught when responding.

So no doubt he's probably having a read of this thread

McKenna is a polarising figure.

On the one hand, his work on Dublin GAA and their finances is incredible. Well researched. Meticulous detail. Articulate. And of course, spot on. I challenge any Dub fan on here to read one of his many articles about your finances and dispute what he says. Hint - you won't be able to.

However he also comes across as a sensationalist attention seeker on other issues, namely rugby. And now of course, this tweet about Lowry.
