Yeh going week after week takes its toll. Takes us v the dubs this year. We had 2 games versus Longford. The week before the Dubs the game went to extra time too. Its a big enough challenge to play them lads in croker without being exhausted. We still managed to put up a decent score though and it was still tight at half time.

Looking forward to this. Mayo rightly favourites (2/5 on with Paddy Power) but , going into this match I think we have a decent chance. A win for us would be huge as it's years since we have beaten a team in the championship regarded as being a level above us. If we win this, along with getting to the last 8 this year and division 1 to look forward to I could see more players making themselves available next year. Would just make people more optimistic about Meath football going forward. Not to mention leaving us a great oscassion in Navan in last round of super 8's. bdbuddah (Meath) - Posts: 1413 - 18/07/2019 19:37:54 2212888 Link 1 |

No part. Garristown is close to the Meath border but in County Dublin.

Yep very hard. I think that's where donegal got the advantage (along with bench, Murphy etc) but you could actually see they were still fresh in those last 10/15 mins, while we looked tired. Not in anyway taking away from donegal, they were the better team and deserved winners. Just could see our lads were dead on feet. This week it's the same for mayo and us, so if nothing else it will even out that. I

Ashbourne is were he's from, very close to the dublin border and the parish of garristown where he pretends to be from, how he ended up playing for ballymun is beyond me. He's father Barney actually played for the meath minors before switching to the dublin seniors, as barneys father was a dub and dublin were a better team and had a better chance of winning Sam at the time.

He's from Ballymadun. Beside Foxes pub. Ballymadun is just outside Ashbourne but very much in County Dublin. I don't know how someone can pretend to be from the place they're from. Garristown is little bit further away again. He plays for Ballymun because he is from Dublin and there is no parish rule in Dublin Gaa. You saying Rock is a Meath man is like me saying Brian Menton is a Dub. MesAmis (Dublin) - Posts: 13796 - 18/07/2019 20:25:46 2212910 Link 9 |
Ashbourne? That's in Dublin right? I mean Dublin bus goes out there, so it must be Dublin? And its an (01) area code. As is Dunboyne.

Barney played minor for Dublin.

Are you familiar with the area because I am he's home place is definitely in county meath, the joke around ashbourne is the only way a meath man can win an all ireland is by playing for dublin, Obviously a reference to dean rock. Its a sore point in meath that we lose allot of meath players to dublin teams just because there parents or grandparents are from there and dean rock is the most high profile of those.

Lol a bit rich coming from a Meath man. Don't you remember the donegal motion earlier this year calling for the dubs to be taken out of croke park for the second super 8s match and how your own representative was very outspoken in his opposition to it? You won't see a bigger example of a county pathetically bowing down to the dubs

Why do so many of these threads descend into farcical nonsense? Can we not keep on track? So many on here are embarrassing with their attempts at humour. ponga (Mayo) - Posts: 658 - 18/07/2019 22:31:33 2212976 Link 1 |
Killian(?) might get a six minute video if he ever leads his team to victory in AI series. Even once. Perhaps then he'll get recognition he deserves.(?) As It stands I remember him for missing crucial frees when it really matters. Unlike Cluxton. A. Aido69 (Dublin) - Posts: 381 - 19/07/2019 08:10:51 2213027 Link 3 |
Exactly ponga back to the thread We're really looking forward to Sunday we've been trying to get back to the top table for a number of years without much success so this year has been very enjoyable so far I don't know what to expect from Sunday Mayo didn't perform last weekend but they usually do in Croker so I'm expecting a big response from them this week I really hope we're competitive again and maybe we can shade it but Mayo are odds on so it's hard to call maybe Mayo's injuries will be a factor in the end runnerin (Meath) - Posts: 202 - 19/07/2019 08:42:11 2213032 Link 1 |
Any thread involving Meath is bound for disaster
