Donegal have shown why they are favourites in group 1. Tyrone as expected are the main challengers in group 2.

Roscommon had a four point hammering, Meath were beaten by 9 points. Whilst Cork lost by 13 they probably played best out of the three. Roscommon and Meath are out of their depth for sure and Cork likely are as well but we'll see if they can continue to show positive signs this weekend. I expect two hammerings for the Rossies and Royals this weekend.

Four points is not a hammering, meath and cork were well in it in there games with ten minutes to go, so far no team are showing signs of been out of there depth and all eight deserve there place in the super eights.

Anyone who is in the super 8's gets there on merit and deserves their place, the luck of the draw is how it goes. Otherwise you might as well pick 8 teams to go in there from the start! Everyone deserves their chance it's amazing how opinions can change on a team from one week to the next, teams go from contenders to also rans and back again in the space of a match or two. Everyone has off days and good days. Making the super 8's is an achievable target for most teams and something to aim for.

Ok what happens if Donegal beats Kerry and Mayo beat Donegal and they all beat Meath who goes through?

It will go to point difference.

If Donegal beat Kerry, Mayo will have to probably beat us by a big at least a 5-6 point margin to go through. Unless Kerry struggle to beat Meath.

Same as league, goes on score difference if 3 teams level on points.

I think if three teams finish level it goes on points difference..if it's 2 then it's head to head?

Not only have we to beat Meath but hope Kerry beat Donegel because our points difference ain't good after the Kerry game. Hoping we are still in it when Donegal roll into Castlebar.

2 draws at the weekend would leave everyone with something to play for going into the last round of games, wouldn't be out of the question.

Roscommon have already done better than last year. They have beaten Galway and Mayo to win Connacht and have only list yo Tyrone by 4. Wasn't it by 18 last year? And this Tyrone team are good. I'm not sure what that other poster means by expecting the Royals to get a hammering, we will be very lucky to beat them.

Roscommon deserve to be in the Super 8s. End of that conversation.

Croke Park will be a difficult opponent for Roscommon in phase 2. They'll need a Cork win over Tyrone to give them something to fight for going to Cork in phase 3.

The GAA can confirm the following fixture details.

Saturday August 3

GAA Football All Ireland Senior Championship

Group 1 Phase 3

Mayo v Donegal, Elverys MacHale Park, 6pm

Meath v Kerry, Pairc Tailteann, 6pm

Sunday August 4

Group 2 Phase 3

Cork v Roscommon, Pairc Ui Rinn, 4pm

Tyrone v Dublin, Healy Park, 4pm

A home team could already be eliminated by this stage? Is it right? Why not run the neutral phase at phase 3?

Probably because they know no one would travel to Croke park for a dead rubber!!
