2019 State Aid Free Championship

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

In the 2019 State Aid Free Championship we are being treated to some good football.

Ulster was described as the new Munster Hurling Championship!

Roscommon shocked Mayo and then Galway.

Limerick claimed Tipperary's scalp against the odds. Clare made a battle of it against Kerry while others were watching the Champions League final! Cork and Kerry was an open and attacking provincial final.

There have been some great games in the qualifiers in recent weeks.

Football in the State Aid Free Championship has been good and entertaining. State Aid Free have to meet State Aid at some stage. This is where things will change.

The Super 8 State Aid Free Group looks like anyone will get out of the group.

The State Aid group should see an interesting game in Dr. Hyde Park.

So moral victories for Clare and Cork in Munster is now a badge of honour. Very patronising post. It speaks volumes about the competition in Munster when Clare losing to Kerry by 6 points, Kerry having missed 3 open goals and the gap should have been 15 points, is seen as "making a battle of it". Alas the result in Munster was the same as it had been on 80 previous occasions, Kerry's annual coronation and token issuing of book markers to their panel. Munster is a huge issue for the GAA. If a spotlight is to be shone on Leinster now that Dublin's team continues it's purple patch then surely a century of dominance in Munster in the case of Kerry has to come into question. A massive problem now for HQ. What's good for the goose...

Very patronising post
Also does it not bore you to have similar enough posts all the time about structure of championships yet keep posting no large scale changes to championship simply because keeping provincial championships in their current status within all Ireland doesn't help the sport overall and you only do it because of selfish desires for your own county

Is it true that they do Financial Doping tests on players after matches?
I think they turn players upside down and shake them until they see any notes come out.

I heard Seanie Johnston had to get a Securicor van home when he tested positive :-)

What are you on about?! My preference is for an All-Ireland series separate from the provincial championships. 4 groups of 5 in the top tier and 2 groups of 6 in the second tier.

The GAA are showing no willingness to remove the provincial championships. It would seem any solutions for now need to accept that current reality.

I have said as well that Leinster and Ulster quarter-finalists, and Munster and Connaught finalists should be guaranteed a place in the qualifiers. Leinster and Ulster counties would want to vote together to bring that to congress.

Kerry travelled to Ennis while many were watching the Champions League final.

Kerry also travelled to Cork for the Munster final.

When did Dublin last win a provincial title without a game in Dublin?

I think your having a hard time adjusting to the fact that Kerry are no longer top dogs in the gaa world. RIDICULOUS TREAD

Now now. We all drove down to Portlaoise for Round 1 of the LSFC to play Louth. We are forever being denied the opportunity to play in our home ground at Donnycarney. Only our hurlers and ladies have the privilege these days and look what the white hot atmosphere of the Neller did for them at the Neller. A special venue and hopefully we'll get back home at some point in the future.

How many of these threads with the same vein running through them are we going to have?

Dublin received more funding than everyone else, that's receivED, past tense, done and dusted, can't be changed whether it be right or wrong.

Haven't seen many suggestions as to how funding should work in the future. Loads of problems, no solutions!

Au contraire Rodders! We all have county championships to be getting on with. Enjoy the Royal's championship run and have a nice summer! :)

Ye didn't all drive down to portlaois, only about 5,000 dubs did .

Your maths is about as accurate as your football knowledge. 11,000 Dubs travelled to Portlaoise. 6,000 travelled from the other 3 counties leaving the total attendance about 6000 shy of capacity. You must be mixing up the traveling dubs numbers with the total attendance for your game in Ennis. A paltry 5,037 attended your game the vast majority of them from the banner. About 700 travelled from Kerry according to estimates. That's some support ye have there. Still, it's a hurling province so to be expected.
