Meath V Dublin Leinster Final.

Feel sorry for Meath right now but they are young and will develop further, but they must avoid
the big guns in the qualifier draw.
Hangover will still be there.

Replying To LobinstownMan:  "Worse than expected, was that a record low score from us today? Hard to regroup now for the last of the qualifiers and a kind draw is the best we can hope for. As ridiculous as this might sound, I don't think the Dubs are quite the team they were and I think Donegal might do a number on them in September.

I like conversing and reading the opinions of fellow Gaels on this forum. However, my enjoyment is perpetually tempered by the inane ramblings of Royaldunne on these pages. He is an embarrassment to himself and, more importantly, to my county. He proved himself not to be a man of his word when he reneged on his promise to delete his account after Tyrone knocked Meath out in 2013 (it was my one consoling thought walking out of Croker that day).

I'm being serious now, I can't read anything on this forum which I used to enjoy without being plagued by his poorly written nonsense and the inevitable replies which follow them. Is there any way I can block him so I don't have to read any of his postings or the replies thereon? Mods, is there anything that can be done? This had ruined the site for me and it's becoming unusable and I know I'm not the only one of this opinion."
Best post I've read on this forum ever.. Hat's off to you and my genuine commiserations...
Mind you I guarantee you Royalredtumbs will put a positive spin of some sort on this result..

Our forwards today let us down. 12 wides, 5 off uprights & 3 dropped into Cluxton's hands versus 4 wides for Dublin.

Regroup & look to qualifiers

Worse when even Cavan went up

Replying To Whammo86:  "I don't think they have the players. Up front they had nothing.

They also had no plan. Played around Dublin and into the spaces they directed them into.

They were excellent defensively but very naive on the ball.

You have to have an attacking game plan and a way of getting the ball into the scoring zone. They didn't have that at all."
The plan all year has been bursting runs directly up the middle. Dublin were never gonna allow that. They just had to clog up the middle of the pitch with sweepers and funnel us onto the wings. Very well marshalled. Although a lot of the chances missed were actually quite scorable. It just drained the team.

To be fair there are probably only 2 teams in the country, maximum, who could give Dublin even half a game. Especially in Croke Park.

Very disappointing from Meath today, I actually thought they would give the Dubs a game and show that traditional Meath hardness, grit, fight stubbornness but I think it's one step forward and two steps back!

The GAA should consider giving Dublin a bye into the super 8's. You'd have 3 competitive provinces in that scenario.

Shame on most of Meath in that case. The GAA has abandoned us many years ago. If you had any sense you wouldn't have given them €35 today. Vote with your wallet not your blind loyalty. I'll be back for the next game when it really matters.

You might be right about Dublin, I feel they're not quite there myself. But obviously it'll take a good team to beat them, and there's a few in there. Donegal look strong, Kerry would rise to the occasion.
Anyway congrats to our lads, new record set. As for Meath, well, that was worrying.

Meath did go wide very early though too. How often did the work the ball out of defense down the line and keep going down the line. You have to look to get yourself central and give yourself options on the ball.

The players also were clearly not planning to any sort of plan up front.

They are a work in progress though. There are very few teams will cause Dublin problems.

Similar has happened to teams like Tyrone and Galway who are further along in their development in recent years.

Meath could still make a super 8s and 3 tough games in that should help them

Indeed. Sure it's comforting to know you'll always be around like a good little stalker who's more bothered by us than having anything good to say about their own county.

Agreed no need to put the boot in. Royaldunne is Like many Meath supporters hurting tonight.
Congrats to Meath in winning the Leinster Junior Championship. I thought we might win with our great second half comeback.
Watch out for Jack Robinson to start for Kildare seniors in the next few years he scored 7 pts today. He's a class act.

True Dublin would dominate any province, mabye not to the same extent, however what other team management would think it a good idea to put in the smallest,( 5.7) lightest and least experienced forward as our target man in first half, against one of the most experienced full back lines in the country. The same management have known how poor our kick outs have been all season since start of league and still presist. Feel sorry for the lads today and it will be some achievement if the can recover from today.

I feel for Meath, we've all been there in Leinster. It was the poor forward play which really put the tin hat on it. The defence/midfield worked like Trojans.

It's not money etc. A county that produced O'Rourke, Stafford, Flynn, Geraghty, Giles, Ollie Murphy..
