Replying To WanPintWin:  "We have a good panel, but it's very hard to read too much into the pre-season competitions, especially underage.
We didn't have it all our own way this evening against Roscommon. Mayo put a big beating on Sligo in the other semi. It can be hard to predict form at this level. There's also the old-fashioned straight knockout format, which can make it more unpredictable.
You see very few teams walking an All-Ireland at U20/U21. It always tends to be very competitive."
True I suppose teams were trying different things in the challenge games .

Still looking forward to this competition.

I read that limerick came back from 8 Down to beat tipp last night in thurles.

What was the score in yer game tonight?

It finished 0-17 to 1-7. We dominated most of the match, but had a poor spell in the 3rd quarter. The final is next Wednesday in Tuam.

Ya. They have a few survivors from last year's All Ireland final team and look strong. We have a very good record against them at all levels in recent years, but this one looks like it could be a cracker.

Replying To Galway2019:  "Hardly a watered down competition because some lads progress to the senior ranks quicker. Roscommon are to busy winning at senior level to compete in the U20s."
It is watered down competition where its scheduled very poorly. Sorry Kildare supporters but Kerry would have won the U20 AI last year if Clifford and O'Shea was allowed to play as was the case with U21.

We only promoted up one U20 this year to senior ranks and he got ACL injury since. We competed alright against a highly fancied Galway last night but weren't ever going to beat them when a number of our key players are missing because they are either injured or couldn't take part in training due to exams.

Not much of a development grade for those lads if you ask men.

Hopefully tg4 might show that game.

Laois easily beat meath and will face Dublin who Hammered wexford to make the final. Should be an easy leinster final win for the Dubs. They've dominated u20/21 in Leinster over the last 10 years and will continue to do so.

The rest of us have no chance.

Absolutely......Dublin and Kerry are way ahead of the rest at under 20 this year. Tyrone and Mayo next best.

We're missing Diarmuid o'connor Dara Moynihan and David Clifford who are all starting for the seniors so we won't be doing too much I'd say.

But I'll get a proper look at them tomorrow night in Tralee so il see if my mind will change on that.

Galway hammered both Dublin and Kerry in the recent development league they look the team to beat. Kerry beat us as well, though the conditions were dreadful for good football.

Some of these young Jacks are already in training with the seniors im led to believe in prep for 2020, so hopefully they might kick on for this championship with training with the seniors and being coached by Jim Gavin. There are a few i would be confident off going on to be seniors if not a special bunch overall, hopefully we get a run for our money, i believe Laois are handy at this level.

Given that Kildare won the All Ireland last year, I'd dispute that the rest have "no chance".
U20/U21 has been the most competitive intercounty competition over the past 20 years. It's almost 20 years in fact since any county went back-to-back in the All-Ireland.

Laois looked pretty impressive against us in the first round to be fair to them, we had only a handful of lads left from last year's side and new management team as well but Laois we well organised and had some talented forwards.

Our form line from the development games wasn't really confidence inspiring either, bar maybe the 2nd half against a Cork team who had the game pretty much won by half time.

Kerry would rightly be favourites based on their minor form over the last few years but Galway looked as impressive against us as a strong Dublin side did. You'd expect Ciaran Archer to be knocking on the door for the seniors next year and in Newbridge one of their mids and wingbacks looked like they'd fit straight in with the seniors as it is.

Laois could well put it up to Dublin, they missed plenty of chances against us to really kill the game off but you'd still have to fancy Dublin to win with a bit to spare.

If anybody outside of Kerry, Dublin or Galway win it it'll be a surprise, depending how many Mayo have from last year you could add them to that list too. Derry are into the Ulster final against Tyrone and if they've a few from last year then they'll fancy themselves too after running Mayo close last year.

Big game in Tuam tonight and a big crowd will be present. Could go either way.

We could be up against it Vs Laois hearing that a couple of lads who were playing Senior for Laois this year will be back for the U20's and going all out in the Leinster final, now the seniors have been knocked out.

We live in hope.

Ya. I think it could be a cracker. It's more difficult to predict form at underage, but these look like 2 very good teams. If we lose, that's the clean-sweep for Mayo against us on the lads' side.

Mayo riding the crest of a the green and red wave
will come into tuam feeling good about themselves
can we bring them down to earth with a bang
Reports are than the galway lads are learning a lot form joyce and divilly
in terms of ball skills movement composure etc
wouldn't dismiss the development league galway were in a good group
the signs are that joyce and co have brought theses lads on a good bit since their minor days
matt Tierney is one that seemed to have blossomed big time

A very good win for our lads this evening which is a nice boost was after the weekend. PJ and his team have this group playing a nice brand of football and we kicked some lovely scores on greasy evening. We'll have either the Dubs or Laois in the semi final in a couple of weeks.
