Agreed, they'd advise you not to go on the pitch. Not sure that a volunteer steward would physically prevent you going on the pitch. But the paid guys are pitchside on the edge of the stands/terraces. What I think are paid security for firm contracted by Croke Park. I don't think they're too well paid but the contract the firm has could be lucrative. They will prevent you going on the pitch if you have no accreditation. I know nothing about public liability insurance, the increasing cost of it is back in the news. Is public liability insurance part of the reason they banned supporters going on the pitch in Croke Park?

These guys aren't volunteers, they are well paid for their days work.....unfortunately I have experience dealing with them at games held in our own ground and majority of them are absolute pr@cks on an ego trip ......the days of the volunteer steward at Croker are long gone and the new breed they have replaced them with are anything but GAA people supersub15 (Carlow) - Posts: 3179 - 06/04/2019 13:19:48 2177896 Link 1 |

IF anything is offensive, it's the name "KillingFields". Breffni40 (Cavan) - Posts: 12358 - 08/04/2019 13:24:46 2178047 Link 4 |
If you have connections/an affinity to young munster rfc its not offensive.... their ground is "affectionately" known as "killingfields" KillingFields (Limerick) - Posts: 3758 - 08/04/2019 13:35:02 2178051 Link 0 |
The whole thing could have been easily sorted if the Mayo County board had sorted a pass for Tom not a big deal the other players who didn't make the match day panel all had passes Villatown (Leitrim) - Posts: 902 - 08/04/2019 15:03:27 2178063 Link 0 |
Well said couldn't agree more,it's a great initiative and a great sight to see kids out on the pitch at half time.

Has letting people onto the pitch at half time been successful? Would love to see this carried out in Clones too, having done steward myself I was told not to let anyone on as they weren't joining the initiative, i'm sure there is many's a person who would love to get onto it and kick a ball about that so i'd be all for it. Having also been down in Wexford for the championship game in 2017 and taking a walk onto the pitch there was a great buzz about so I don't see why other counties don't try promote it MonaghanGlory (Monaghan) - Posts: 738 - 18/04/2019 23:29:11 2179526 Link 0 |

All depends on the ground and agreement of groundsmen but if they see it as ok then no harm but if you want to constantly maintain a top class surface then it shouldnt happen. less to go on the better in that regard KillingFields (Limerick) - Posts: 3758 - 19/04/2019 09:49:27 2179542 Link 0 |
