Got the prediction wrong but am happy that Carlow won today. Sad to see Offaly go down but it would be sadder still if Carlow went down cos they deserved to stay up -- especially considering their draw against Galway, a performance that impressed me. Thrilled for Carlow hurlers today. First game v Dublin showed signs of being able to compete well against good teams and Galway match yielded a draw after mighty team performance. Having so many games together put strains on the panek and fair play to the management as they gave a lot of players match time and then we had today. Heroic performance in atrocious weather. Congratulations to Carlow today. Offaly don't deserve any sympathy at all. There is something rotten to the core in the county board for the past few years. A hurling development committee was set up to address Offaly hurling 3 or 4 years ago. Liam Sheedy was one of the members. But the county board didn't implement any of the recommendations. And the committee walked away. To be honest, Offaly should have been relegated to division 2 years ago when Kerry found themselves playing Offaly in a promotion/relegation match, despite the fact that they topped division 2 that year. Delighted for us to stay up. Huge game for our development and wheels could have come off after great the progress of the last few years. I'm tired of telling people how good our players are and they stepped up today in the second half. Feel bad for Offaly but it could be a good thing in the long run. Offaly clubs have to send players in to the county and come up with a plan to get out of division 2. Laois improves from division 2 a couple of years ago with Chedder plunkett in charge. Great for Carlow hope they can build on it for Leinster championship. Terrible for the once great Offaly, looked like an own goal from Offaly defender on the highlights too.? Apologies, I made a mistake by crediting points for a Longford win when in fact it was a draw in normal time. Remember for knock out stages, the result in normal time is counted as stated in the rules in the opening post. Here's the updated standings...
