Great win for Limerick though I didn't pick them. Lesson learned. Trump2020 (Galway) - Posts: 2509 - 17/02/2019 17:28:51 2165904 Link 1 |
I didn't go for Limerick either, me of little faith. Very good win in Nowlan Park.

Took you a while to learn that lesson. Limerick are by no means world beaters but they aren't bad and they are getting better.

And I'll definitely be picking Cork away in their next round! !

You're excused. Offaly have 'Stockholm' syndrome when it comes to Kilkenny. Kilkenny feed of doubt and weakness. The only way to play them is to meet fire with fire. 2 fortuitous goals helped and the Ballyhale guys missing aswell but overall they were spanked but they 'll learn alot from that and I'm in no rush for Limerick to meet them in the Summer.

Very satisfying win alright, all things considered.

your right bloodyban we're no world beaters sure we wouldn't have beaten galway in the all ireland final if they weren't tired....

First sensible thing you've written.

Really. Six of the the All Winning side off and four playing in the same positions as on All Ireland Final day and and they go to KK and beat them by nine points and they only beat ye because ye were tired. Remember always. Winners are winners and losers make excuses.

If Galway were that tired how come they played their best hurling in the last ten minutes of the seventy. This tired excuse is all nonsense.

What a great result for Wexford today...unfortunately not many of us saw that coming! 2 out of 3 wins for Wexford pitty it wasn't 3 out of 3! katser (Galway) - Posts: 2570 - 17/02/2019 19:56:42 2165955 Link 0 |
Offaly is a small county with an even smaller hurling pick and they've run out of road.Offaly can be said to have overachieved winning 2 Senior All -Ireland Hurling titles in the 1980s and 2 titles again in the 1990s.I'd say it'll be a long time before they win another.Limerick is a big population hurling county who totally underachieved winning only one senior All -Ireland hurling title between 1940 and 2018.Limerick have a very talented squad now and they should win a few All-Ireland titles with them.Make hay while the sun shines as they say.

Some very easily wound up Limerick lads today. festinog (Galway) - Posts: 3148 - 17/02/2019 19:58:37 2165957 Link 0 |
Delighted Limerick walloped Kilkenny. Very disrespected of Jackie Tyrell to say Limerick not even in the top 3...they are All Ireland champions and on current form still the best team in the country. yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 11565 - 17/02/2019 20:23:01 2165971 Link 1 |
Bloodyban, I made that prediction based on Kilkenny being at home, and their reputation. They haven't won all those titles for nothing. Making predictions is a bit of a lottery, you win some and you lose some. I don't get your Stockholm syndrome, think it is to do with a captor building a relationship over time with their prisoner. I can recall us beating Kilkenny in a lot of games, in the good times. I always respect their achievements. I can also recall Offaly beating Limerick in games, when we weren't supposed to. 2008 qualifier in The Gaelic Grounds, springs to mind, along with a couple of other notable wins, 1994 All Ireland Final is another. Sadly those days are in the past. Limerick really went at Kilkenny today, and it paid off. You can't sit back and admire the Cats. Cats are predators. Having family ties to Limerick, I spent a lot of time there in my younger days, and always liked Limerick people, and hope they do well. It is great to see them back in the top tier, and wish them continued success. We won't stop trying here in Offaly, having reached the summit in hurling and football in the past, I would like to see us do it again, but it will take a long time,if ever. thelongridge (Offaly) - Posts: 1879 - 17/02/2019 22:14:57 2166001 Link 1 |
It was a silly comment, and backfired today.

I wouldn't bother answering that crowd...they are full of it!! Any chance we can get this week's scores up, there isn't much between us... oh and that London v Mayo game from Round 2 still hasn't been played
