Football is at a good level in rural Ireland. There's just that gap you speak of and the reasons we have mentioned for it. In a roundabout way you are agreeing with us and acknowledging it. Well done.

1960 hurling final Wexford vs Tipp 77k in attendance. Jack_Goff (Meath) - Posts: 2920 - 24/07/2019 11:40:38 2215675 Link 8 |
I haven't been at a Gaelic Football match since 2013, I feel as though live sport is a family affair, I do not feel comfortable as a loner man going to football games however I do go to concerts alone, the reason being is that the concerts don't be on TV whereas football games do so I have to force myself to go. People dislike loners in society as they think we are a threat. PattyONeill (Derry) - Posts: 263 - 26/07/2019 20:15:02 2216912 Link 4 |
Any word on expected attendances for the hurling semis this weekend? I'll go for 50k at Limerick/Kilkenny and 60k at Tipp/Wexford. men_of_49 (Meath) - Posts: 2003 - 26/07/2019 22:56:54 2216957 Link 0 |
Anyone had the attendance from last night. Looked a 55k to 60k from the tv snippets I saw. kiloughter (Galway) - Posts: 1973 - 28/07/2019 13:27:25 2217532 Link 0 |
61k there today. Can someone tell me where the extra 21k would fit? Jack_Goff (Meath) - Posts: 2920 - 28/07/2019 21:16:30 2217859 Link 7 |

You're presumably a troll; but in my case it was the other way about - my better half is from another county and doesn't much like Tyrone anyway (I've seen her applauding when the other team scores) and my kids roll their eyes about my giving "advice" to the referee, so it's often a relief to head along by myself, tbh. Anyway, how do you manage to not speak to someone at a game? They're very sociable places, just open your bake and away you go. If the opposing fans are Dubs, chat is inevitable!

Yeah looked to be a bit of a fiddle going on there yesterday, definitely more than 61k at that sanjose1 (Dublin) - Posts: 11 - 29/07/2019 14:28:53 2218228 Link 0 |
Can someone actually tell me where they would have fit another 21k? Are they not counting the 10k premium seats or what? Do they consider them separately as they are bought every 10 years or so? Leinster final galway vs wexford there was slightly less in the stands and the hill was closed and the attendance was 60k+. Mayo vs Donegal sold out and the last few Tyrone Dublin tickets on sale online. I believe mchale Park is 28k and is Omagh 17k? Jack_Goff (Meath) - Posts: 2920 - 02/08/2019 17:50:28 2219841 Link 8 |

Biggest meath crowd of the year for a dead rubber. Remember our population is 200k not 1.5M.

Looks like mayo vs Dublin could be the first sell out of the year. Jack_Goff (Meath) - Posts: 2920 - 06/08/2019 19:11:00 2221810 Link 6 |
Outstanding Meath crowd. The team got a lot of bad PR for the Dublin game this year. Personally I thought there was a lot to admire about their performance, their defense was unreal in the first half winning the majority of man to man duels, a bit more luck on front of goal and the narrative on the game could have been very different. Good to see Meath football people have realised the potential in their team. Would be great to see them push on next year.

9k from 200k is poor in an Al Ireland quarterfinal VS Kerry. If you are going to constantly critise Dublin attendances as a vehicle for people loosing interest in football, you have to apply the same measure. Meath is no small county and that is a poor home attendance. Sad to see with the team relative success this year. Bigger crowd at the Leinster final so wasnt the biggest crowd of the year Meath was involved in. TheUsername (Dublin) - Posts: 4515 - 07/08/2019 10:34:29 2222082 Link 4 |
