I thought u were crazy but i looked at it just now and u might be correct. The keepers starting position was close to his right hand post. The ball actually didn't loop that high at all and went in just past the middle of the goal. I have no issue with the keeper being a little off his line as the have to be but his starting position was too way far to the right https://youtu.be/jOiJD67n8u4 Obviously there was a foul in there as well. Should the back have tried to win it out in front....... might be a bit unfair to criticise him because it would have been a clean catch but for the push. I'd agree with your take on the impact of 2011 win for Dublin. It lifted a monkey off their backs and they've had Kerry's number since. Off-topic I know, but the general commentary on that final is that Kerry dominated the match and threw it away in the last 10 mins. However, Dublin were actually the better team majority of that game. They were on top for most of the 1st half and should have been further ahead at half-time. They started the 2nd half well too. Kerry dominated the 3rd quarter, before the famous late rally. It's the nature of the comeback that may make it seem like a smash and grab, but across the game as a whole, I thought the Dubs deserved it. Push in the back on defender led to the goal. Should have been a free out. Rockies (Cork) - Posts: 947 - 14/01/2019 13:29:15 2157052 Link 0 |
All irrelevant now. Goal allowed, Offaly won. End of story.

The Gooche's first goal in the All Ireland final against Mayo was also a push in the back and should have been a free out. The Offaly goal was a push in the back otherwise the Kerry player would have got the ball - the keeper would have seen it that way so I would put no blame on him. browncows (Meath) - Posts: 2342 - 14/01/2019 16:55:10 2157082 Link 3 |
I tried finding the 1919 championship on the RTE Player but no go. Maybe TG4 covered it...
