True. However, instead of choosing 4 counties to play in Fenway or two to play in Sydney, why not choose provinces instead. The appeal was gone in Ireland but if there is a market abroad. In fact nearly all players are making themselves available for Cork, Limerick and Clare. I am sure if Tipp and Waterford were going, most players would also be available. You would have a very good Munster side.

Outstanding game in Sydney. Both teams and mgt to be applauded for the serious way they took the game and for the quality of the hurling. Also a huge call out to the work and time they spent with local Australia media, Sydney morning herald and Daily Telegraph (both ran articles) plus Fox Sports. Fox Sports showed the game live at 3:30. Great promotion of the game of hurling. Sliotar99 (Galway) - Posts: 19 - 16/11/2018 02:15:14 2151278 Link 3 |
Michael Duignan, who I have great time for, said Corcoran "faded" off the Galway team earlier in the year which is not true. His unlucky under 21 suspension stopped him from playing in All Ireland Final which was a huge blow to a knackered Galway team. Good game in Oz. suckvalleypaddy (Galway) - Posts: 1736 - 17/11/2018 19:57:37 2151421 Link 0 |
Concannon.....yes, his loss in the final was huge for us. He was the potential ace in our pack to introduce as a sub and get the scores we weren't getting. But don't think he was unlucky....he did a silly thing in the U21 semi final even if the Tipp player made a meal of it.

benny, breaking news, Galway are in Leinster, pointless having a Railway Cup these days unless its a Connacht-Ulster for the curtain raiser and Leinster-Munster for the big one.

Actual facts. Galway are not in Leinster. No one pulled a chuck of land over to the east coast. They are playing SOME of their hurling in Leinster competition and some counties there would like to send them back packing where they came from. They could still be a part of a Connacht team as there could be no argument that is where they come from. However that competition is dead except it is even some life, like All-Star selection from it, these gravy trips overseas, counties from the winning province always get home advantage against the other provinces teams. Something to put teeth in it. Canuck (Waterford) - Posts: 3046 - 22/11/2018 20:40:10 2152161 Link 0 |
The team and the players relevant to/eligible for Railway Cup from Galway are 100% in Leinster, you are mistaken here. Galway are a Leinster Team regarding this issue. Railway Cup is a historical thing, not the future. Galway are Leinster Champions now and while it offends some they are looking to win it again.

No they are not a Leinster county. Playing senior hurling in Leinster. Np other grade or football. When they played in Munster (for a long time) they also played for Connacht. I agree about the future of the Railway cup except someone has a brain storm.

That's not entirely correct. Galway's U21s also play in Leinster and won the title this year.
