Your favourite player not from your own county

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

There are alot of great players out there, but many people forget some of the players that play for the weaker counties. All I am saying is that fermanagh players Barry Owens and Ryan McCluskey would make it on any county team.

Hurling: I would have to say John Mullane. Love the way he gets fired up, ever team needs a bit of that. My county Offaly desperately need someone (or, 10) in his mould.
Football: Declan Browne two all-stars playing with Tipperary, no disrespect, but it shows his quality. And retired at 29, although I hear rumours he is back involved with the squad, unsure at what level though.

Dan the Man. And I remember a few years back when he was brought on against us and I asked a Waterfordman beside me who he was and he said "now we're bringing on the dreggs". And shur now look at him. Excellent hurler.

At the moment it has to be Joe Canning, one of the most exciting up and coming hurlers on the scene. Henry Sheflin is one of the most talented established hurlers i've seen in recent years.

I couldn't agree more with you jethro081 about Padraig Davis of Longford. I was living in Longford a few years back and he was some player. Speedy and deadly off either foot. I seen him in a League game against Fermanagh and he kicked a point from the sideline in Pearse Park that as the Fermanagh man next to me put it, Maurice Fitzgerald would have been proud of.

Favourite players, firstly hurling, of the past i have to go for Nicky English he ripped us apart in 89 but a hell of a player, of current day i would have to pick Richie Hogan of Kilkenny my reason for picking him is that 2 years ago he was a junior club captain since then he has led his club to Junior All Ireland Title and made his way into the Kilkenny hurling team what an achievement when you consider the quality senior club players they have.

In football my past favourite is Jack O Shea a legend and a tower of Strength an absolute pleasure to watch in current day football i have to pick Sean Cavanagh tall fast strong skilful and a score getter from the middle of the park will be looked back on as a great.

Stevie Mc Donald is one of the most natural and intelligent forwards in Gaa History, lethal under a high ball and a real team player. Even on a bad day his man can turn a win a match from nothing.
