I have always held view that Henry Shefflin was best ever hurler but TJ Reid is well on way to competing for that title clooney (Clare) - Posts: 982 - 09/04/2018 15:19:09 2091865 Link 3 |
Fully. He is a class act, his strength and ability to win ball in unmatched. Pinkie (Wexford) - Posts: 4100 - 09/04/2018 15:46:10 2091877 Link 0 |
He creates, he scores, he tackles and for me is the best player playing for the past few years. He is the heart beat of the whole Kilkenny team ke40 (Kildare) - Posts: 214 - 09/04/2018 16:10:19 2091883 Link 0 |
Savage hurler. Thankfully the injury he picked up the first half wasn't too serious yesterday. Looked worse at first when the cameras went on him lying down. PortInFaithful (Offaly) - Posts: 472 - 09/04/2018 16:55:46 2091897 Link 0 |

His ability to make space is immense. His left handed strike seems to make him very difficult to block or hook. ZUL10 (Clare) - Posts: 708 - 09/04/2018 16:57:13 2091899 Link 0 |
Best hurler in the country at the moment unbelievable the things that fella does with a hurl. KK are very reliant on him at the moment his pulling all the Strings in the forward line. WildPundit (Tipperary) - Posts: 1709 - 09/04/2018 17:06:07 2091901 Link 0 |
He'lll have a lot tougher tests than yesterday.Tipp were very poor.T.J. should consider not wearing a blue helmet against opposition such as Tipp that have blue in their colours. endgame (Roscommon) - Posts: 2385 - 09/04/2018 17:51:57 2091921 Link 0 |
Some gift he has! jimbodub (Dublin) - Posts: 20763 - 09/04/2018 18:03:21 2091925 Link 1 |
Don't think many could disagree that he is a superb hurler and if you are looking at one player who can win a game and keep a team in touch when needed then he does it regularly. Easily best player in the country and probably as good as any who has played the game. Dubh_linn (Dublin) - Posts: 2313 - 09/04/2018 18:14:52 2091930 Link 0 |

Hold yere horses there lads. He is a top class player but Tipp gave him the run of the Park yesterday. The likes of Clare would never have let Kilkenny play to their strengths like that. PeggyShippen (Limerick) - Posts: 300 - 09/04/2018 19:32:39 2091945 Link 1 |
I don't know Peggy about the Tipp mental block. They are the only ones to have beaten the Cats in recent years when it really matters I.e. the all Ireland final. Tipp seem to get KK more than most in big matches. Anyway on the thread class player and KK are back even if they were never really gone away.

What a strange post! Zero pace compared to who exactly? He was the player of the league so then every team played into his hands? He actually scored more from play against waterford in the league too. No disrespect to Clare but what makes you think that they above other counties could hold him? There is some valid points in your post but some seriously strange ones too tiobraid (Tipperary) - Posts: 4119 - 10/04/2018 10:20:45 2092015 Link 0 |
There's always one isn't there. Zero pace i certainly wouldn't like to be trying to catch him when he takes off. Your right strange post indeed or maybe just knocking for the sake of it.As the saying goes there's always one.

Kilkenny may have had 6 players playing who lost an All-Ireland U21 to Limerick but now they have a senior National Title. While Limerick with 2 great sets of U21 players failed to beat Tipperary in the league semi. Oh the young lads are coming on etc, excuses. Seeing as you have the template to beat Kilkenny how come you have no all-ireland senior title since 1973? Kilkenny have won 17 since. Don't get cocky about U21 titles. They mean nothing. Out of the Limerick 3 in a row U21 sides, 200-2002 you got to one senior final in 2007. Over after 10 min. And why are you putting up Clare to be a beacon of greatness? Since 2013 they have made no use of their underage talent. Mental block, Tipperary!! Tipp are a great county who constantly put up to Kilkenny. fantababy (Meath) - Posts: 15 - 10/04/2018 16:06:53 2092145 Link 0 |
What a brilliant post.....made look ordinary in an U21 final well they looked far from ordinary on Sunday! TJ Reid was unmarkable on Sunday, he is a great man at winning frees (which I sometimes think are dubious ones) but to call him "zero pace" is laughable. But Tipp had no answer to him and if Kilkenny are to win an All-Ireland, TJ will do what Shefflin used to do, i.e. drag them by the scruff of the neck. You see, Kilkenny put little or no creedence on U21 finals and the like. If they win them great, throw the cup in the boot, if not they will get the usual 2-3 players off them so it doesn't matter. Fill us in on what basis you are putting them behind Waterford and by the same logic, if there are 6 of these lads who looked "ordinary" v Limerick would you not put them behind them too? Simple message. All Irelands are not won in April. Clare Waterford, Dublin, Cork (98), Offaly (91) and Limerick, on more occasions than one, have all won National Leagues handsomely and performed very averagely in the championship
