I quite enjoyed it to be honest, wasn't one for the ages but it was a tense parochial provincal game and was never going to be any different, reminded me of the Dublin and Meath games of old.

Was left a little unimpressed by both, both are capable of more or for their sake I hope so.

Mayo showed all the old diffecines, struggling for scores, ill displiane, some players being passengers when the game is in the melting pot and hitting a lot of storable wides. I thought young Coen and Loftus-Cheek showed why they have been on the bench a lot, the game looked to big for them. The young corner back looked a promising prospect. Mayo struggled I thought for anything new, really didn't seem to have a plan b when Galway pushed up,on kick outs. Clarke looked unchatiscially poor, I thought he could have done better for the gol myself.

Galway are an odd one to work out, I'm not sure if they are good because of their defensive system or whether the defensive system is stopping them being better. They have some wonderful players and you wonder what headroom is there as a team if they played expansively. They have a lot going for them, good players, young players with athleticism and physicality and depth. Ultimately though the system and those attributes will get them deep into the championship but also likely to defeat them probably before a final. Looks like the honey moon is over after the league novelty I think they are going to get dogs criticism for their style of play. It will be interesting to see how they handle that.

Both teams will make the S8 in my opinion. So really you are looking at one of the S8s group now being really tough with three top teams.

All that's said I wouldn't be overly surprised if Roscommon went and spoiled all our nice predictions in the Connacht final.

What a dire bloody mess they have made of the grand old game of Gaelic Football.
That was just awful today.Awful.
The Galway/Offaly hurling match last night was 100 times more entertaining.

RTE please do not show a hurling match before football again dreadful game, the hurling wasnt great but just to sit and watch it and excitement it brings and then to watch a half decent game of football where both teams are supposed to challenge for an all ireland? judging by today i dont think so. The most important thing from today is that tom parsons makes a speedy recovery looked a horrible injury

Too many snobby punters using Gaelic football to signal that they have better taste than everybody else. Some of them are old men on a nostalgia trip. Some are D4-heads who can't stand the GAA - Ireland has plenty of those (not confined to D4 any more). Anyway, we've got your point - Gaelic football is awful, ye're wonderful, away and practice your accents. Game was good in parts. Mayo will improve massively; remember how poor they were early stages last year. Good experience for Galway too. Both teams last 4. Parsons injury could be an absence too far for Mayo in terms of an outright win though.

It was poor stuff and you'd expect better from these two teams. Sides are set up now with the priority in not losing and the spontaneity and flair has gone from the game. You can't keep blaming Ulster sides for this. Dublin and Kerry are now masters at it.

Congratulations to Galway today it was a great result, I really thought Mayo would win this game by 6/7 points but I was wrong.

To compound matters for Mayo, diarmuid o'connor Getting another red card and Tom parsons horrible knee means moving through the qualifiers could be tough, but they have a big squad and I reckon they will make the super 8s regardless.

I'd like to wish Tom parsons a speedy recovery.

Judge the game on its merits , it was poor at best , poor skill set on display , athletes playing in straight jackets , not good to watch regardless of who was playing , things can and will get better
