Team named:
Fanning
Reck Ryan donaghue
Pfoley O'Hanlon okeeffe
Kfoley Murphy
Joc macdonald Morris
Dunbar roc Dunne

Chin in subs
Neither Nolan nor guiney in subs.

Need the hf line to work well in the air unless they decide to go short and work the ball upfield.

Can not afford start slow. Must hit the ground running.

Mighty stuff. Huge contrast to Leinster final where we couldn't match Galways physicality or their aerial prowess. Conor Mac got his mojo back today and hopefully moves on and the rest of the young lads hurled up a storm. Still not the finished article but the progress is there for all to see. Loch Garman abú.

Brilliant stuff today . Half back line in particular were very solid. O Connor was brilliant what a talent he is. Mac really stood up when we needed him today. Heard Davy talking on the radio. Refreshing to here he thinks we can improve even further I would fully agree with him. Don't even think we played great today but still got the result . Big semi final next Saturday in the park. I wouldn't be holding anything back for championship we will worry about that when it comes. We have a great chance of getting to the final for the first time since 1993 but would expect Kilkenny to be really up for this one. Will be a great occasion and would expect the park to be near full come throw in. Up Wexford!!

I'd say we possibly set a record today for most scores from nominated backs. Foley with five points, Dee three and Ryan one. Just goes to show that we have the scoring prowess is there and our sweeper system automatically brings negative conoctations of being defensive.

Its a great day to win a game when Chin isn't prominent, when Reck goes off injured early on, when Aidan Nolan isn't fit enough for the entire game and when Guiney isn't available either.

Just on Guiney was great to see himself Tomkins and McGovern with the squad today. They will add even more to an already competitive squad when they return. Hope Recks injury isn't serious although Willie Devereux did well when he came on .

Huge psychological boost to win today! Massive. Conor Cooney took Liam Ryan to the cleaners in Leinster final but this time Liam kept him scoreless and even out scored him.

Guilty of bad wides from play and from frees today and lost numerous possessions from hand passes and over playing the ball.

Stunning win though and many spectacular points scored by Wexford. Conor Mac was brilliant today as was Ryan, P Foley, Simon Donahue and both o Connors. Even though we werent perfect today we still pulled off a huge win. I expect us to win next week vs Kilkenny. What a huge turnaround in just one year.

I honestly think we have beaten more top tier teams since Davy took over than in all the years since 96 combined.

Hope Reck is ok and that chin and Nolan are fit enough to start next week. I feel we have improved immensely since last year and long may it continue.

This year we have beaten: Carlow, Dublin, Kilkenny, cork, Clare, Waterford and Galway and been narrowly beaten by tipp and Kilkenny. Great preparation for championship.

Great game today and a great atmosphere aswell we are great supporters... we have to match Galway today physically and once ya do that ya always have a chance.. i think we can and have proved we can match anyone on our day.. like chin was quiet today and other lads stepped up to the plate... Ryan is turning into a top class full back but for me he has put on a lot of weight... o hanlon is consistent 7/10 man everyday d o keefe has returned to form paudie foley is a massive edition this year regards physical size free taking and being a good hurler helps a lot....on devereax i was critical of him but to be fair he has done well while called upon against kk and today... Rory o Connor is a class act and it's great to have him back but what is his best position I think around midfield picking up breaking ball.. anyway roll on next Saturday up Wexford

Great result and also atmosphere was brilliant. Good to see stands packed for league games. I'd agree with most posters above we didn't play particularly well but got over the line. Should of been further ahead. I do think we will be playing a completely different Galway come the Leinster Championship though but still it's been some year so far. Let's hope it continues.

Replying To beano:  "I don't get this clamour over needing Division One hurling in order to compete at the top table. We played two top teams in the league stages last year (and even at that Galway were half-baked and Limerick didn't have a good year in general), and it done us no harm. Okay we also beat KK in both the league and championship, with the league win fueling the momentum that we fed off in Wexford Park, but let's be honest, no-one ever looks back at a successful league campaign with pride.

Championship is the be all and end all, and we shouldn't be essentially breaking our balls before 2017 is even out so we are flying over the heavy ground in February, if we run the risk of burning out come the summer. I literally couldn't give a damn who Wexford play in the league. And when you think about it, that seeps into IC manager's mind-sets too- after losing a game or two it's always: "ah sure the league is only for building up our fitness in preparation for the championship" or words to that effect.

Leinster alone this year will be a different kettle of fish, never mind anywhere beyond that. Kilkenny having two poor provincial campaigns in succession are as rare as hen's teeth under Cody, and Pat Gilroy's influence should raise Dublin up to the standards they had set themselves under Daly.

So in my mind, there is no need to be forcing amateur players back so early into training regimes that I guarantee would be seen as too excessive for professional athletes. Hurling is meant to be enjoyable, and it's hard enough to balance work/personal life with the increasingly unrealistic demands of inter-county hurling. Use the league as a breeding-ground for the new personnel we need to assimilate into the starting team, not as a barometer for our season.

Davy should save the heavy lifting for Ireland's Fittest Family for now."
Superb, sky is the limit

Happy with the overall performance today, and we stood up at the end when it was needed. Excellent all over the field. Simon Donohoe was very good. And the whole half bsck line which is probably the key to winning any game. Midfielders again did excellently while Rory o Connor and conor MacDonald were the two most lively in the forwards with jack o Connor very good in the air again.

Few things that didn't go quite perfectly were the odd occasion we over played the ball again in tight situations. A few very simple frees were missed again and a couple of other score able ones were hit miles wide. Jack O Connor always seems to put in one stupid late tackle every game and today he did it right at a moment when we were under pressure and needed to keep our discipline.
Ive criticised out sweeper a lot in relation to previous games and i believe justifiably so, but there was an improvement from Shaun Murphy today after a very shaky opening ten minutes. One of his better performances of recent times.

Onwards and upwards to Wexford park again next Saturday

Dee O' Keeffe was much better, which was fantastic to see. Like others have said, we over played the ball at times and some of our distribution decisions weren't great. The buzz in the park was unreal though and the momentum is there. What are we going to do about free taking though???

I did see some of the team were in Wexford A&E after the match though, not sure who the injured party was and hopefully it was precautionary

Id have foley taking long ones and oconnor on close ones. He missed two long ones hitting into the wind and it appeared that he only took them cause foley was broke up from a tackle i could be wrong. Hes only 19 too dont forget. Great win. Could very well have won by alot more. Some great scores in the game.

Delighted with that performance.

Great heart and battling qualities shown especially in the last 10 minutes.

Delighted in particular that Dee O'Keeffe had a good game. He has been poor earlier in the campaign, and also made a couple of mistakes on Saturday. However, his overall contribution was excellent. Same with Mac. Poor at times earlier in the league but was immense on Saturday. Battling for everything, some great distribution, positioned well to be on hand to poach that goal, and further scores at the end.
Disappointed to see Reck go off injured. Maybe between college and county he is doing a bit too much and hence getting injured more easily. Looks like hamstring I think. However, in fairness I thought Devereux done well enough when he came in.

Obviously delighted with Ryan, Foleys x 2, ROC and JOC.

A few areas we really need to improve on:
1. Stick with roc and Foley for the frees. Chin does a lot from open play but is not a natural free taker.
2. JOC needs to be careful. Another booking yesterday although it wasn't particularly bad. He may develop a reputation and could be targeted by refs. His fielding was excellent
3. Great booming points from the HB line looks great.... they happened to come off yesterday. Percentage wise it is better to work the ball further up the field as we have lots of capable finishers. Very demotivating for forwards seeing a point attempt go wide from a huge distance out. You are not utilising your forwards and handing possession straight back to the opposition.

I believe we can definitely turn over the cats. Need to bring the same level of fight and use our speed and strength to run at their FB line.

Finally, and I have said this before. It is sooo good going to matches KNOWING that your team are going to fight to the end and not let the heads drop. Even if we lose, as a supporter what you want to see is dogged determination, hassling of your opponents and never throwing in the towel, even if things are not going well on the scoreboard.
This team has really epitomised this.

Well done all.

I have to agree with viking on one issue joc are any other player for that matter ( ALL IT TAKES IS ONE DIRTY STROKE) especially against Kilrenny they will cherish that as we all well know from the past. Wexford have the initiative let's not loose it.

The two things this year has taught me is

1) we can go into any game and feel we have a chance... it feels like only yesterday we would be playing a galway and my first taught would be " please don't let it be a hammering" as said above we actually seem to thrive when our backs are against the wall the head rise instead of drop. That in itself is the best feeling as a supporter I can have.

2). This time last year I was thinking we are at full tilt we might be able go up a notch but that would be it ( possibly due to having not seen us hurl constantly well for a good few years). But this year I feel we can go 2 or 3 notches and hurl consistently at that level.

Also strikes me as funny how last year we were told we had peaked to early.. Davy would have us ran into the ground etc.etc. and yet limerick have done what we done last year and not a word about "peaking" early.

Also apologises for my woeful misinformation on the match looking to go ahead in Thurles. Should know better then to believe everything your told.

I assume that rules it out being shown live on TG4 then, seeing as the Division 2 football final is down for decision at the same time and was already scheduled to be shown? Unless they go down the live streaming route that is a good new initiative but unreliable at times.

Can anyone clarify whether Eir Sport tend to broadcast soccer of a Sunday afternoon, or is there a chance they could step into the mix? Just looking to have my options on the table in front of me before I make the decision of travelling or not.
