Leinster Championship Draw 2018!

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

The draw for next years Leinster Championship draw will take this Thur night on RTE 2 at 8.30 pm. Wee are in the Preliminary Round and wee can get Wicklow, Laois, Longford, Carlow, Wexford or Offaly. Wee might get a bye into the Quarter-Finals and get either Meath, Dublin, Westmeath or Kildare. I can feel it in my bones and feel wee might have a shot at Colin Kelly's Westmeath in the Quarter-Finals.

They brought us to Athlone once in early 90s but we still won.

Yep that was back in 1994. It was a first round clash. Louth won by a point. The reason it was in Athlone because Cusack Park in Mullingar was been redeveloped.

I remember that. I think Ireland were playing in the 94 world cup in the states that day. I think if im not mistaken gary kelly scored that day. The ireland game was after the louth game.

Joe that was a friendly match that Ireland were playing on that day. They beat Germany 2-0 away. Gary Kelly who is a good Tones man scored his first goal for Ireland in that match.

Found that on a vhs tape lately.. Westmeath were after getting to the semi of the old NFL , beating all Ireland champions Derry on route.. we were underdogs but dug out the win. White Kelly Gerry Curran and a young Alan Doherty figured prominently..
The O Hanlons were in exile in 94, having fallen out with Declan Smyth I think..they were a loss..
We hockeyed Carlow but Dublin beat us in the Leinster semi final by 7 or 8 points. No back door then

Jaysus Sam do they still make VHS tapes? Louth reached six Leinster semi-finals in the nineties. Dublin had beating us in three of them and Meath, Laois and Offaly beat us in the other semi-final matches. After the nineties I thought I would never see the Wee County in a Leinster final.

Well the draw is on tonight. Who do wee want? I would not mind getting Offaly because we have not played them in a Championship since 2005. Then the winners face Westmeath in the quarter-finals.

Gooch Carlow, Kildare, Wexford and Dublin on the way to Leinster glory in 2018. A bit like 1957. An Lu Abu!

Wee with be playing Carlow on the weekend of May 12th/13th. No venue decided yet. But it will probably be Parnell Park. The winners play Kildare. That will be on the weekend of May 26th/May27th. Could be in Croke Park as part of a double header?

Why not Navan, home game for Louth?

Louth and Carlow have played each other twelve times and only once have they played in Navan and that was in the great year of 1957. Wee are actually due to play a championship match in Navan. Wee have not played there in the Championship since 2012 when wee beat Westmeath with a last minute goal. The last two Louth and Carlow matches was in Portlaoise. Will wee be making a third trip in a row?

Louth and Carlow is fixed for Portlaoise as part of a double header with Offaly and Wicklow. The date has not yet been confirmed.
