Replying To pj_mcmanus:  "Pat, will you please stop with your tirade against Richie McCarthy. Our full back line is doing very well but this agenda to keep referring to Richie or "now having ample cover in full back line" is very disrespectful to a man who has been, and continues to be, a super servant to Limerick hurling. He's just one of three all stars on our panel and has always given everything to the cause. Who knows, he could still have a role to play this year yet"
Sorry to offend your sensibiliites pj, and funny you say that. Am actually just trying to keep the scales balanced against the same 3 or 4 posters who insisted on here a late as Friday or Saturday that " we're sunk if we don't start Richie at 3. ( not sure if you were one and it does not matter.) SAme 3 or 4 seem to have gone to ground since until the dust settles. I like to focus on what's best for the other 14 on the field at any one time.
Thanks for sharing your opinion , though.
Beyond that I more than satisfied to live and die with current manager's choice. He hasn't led us astray yet.

He reminds me of a certain current Head of State. Unfortunately not one that too many people admire.
Obviously he never heard the saying. " Better to keep your mouth closed and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all doubt"

Richie mac's reputation as a Limerick hurling great is fairly secure.
The ramblings of an anonymous poster with an agenda against him won't change that.

Agree. He was outstanding against galway in that league match this year.

Agreed. Richie is an integral part of the whole set-up. We are really lucky to have him on a strong bench and he may well yet feature at some stage in the championship this year.

I like everyone else here have been enjoying the passion shown on display by our young bunch of hurlers.
I think as supporters we need to step up a gear too. Not with the numbers as an article by the limerick leader shows that ticket sales are through the roof for the semi which is fantastic. More with the support on the day. If things go bad on the day we're inclined to let out groans that reverberate around the stadium. I'm thinking of when poor Declan Hannon missed those frees in 2013. By the way I'm no saint either in this regard. It's hard not to react to things unfolding in front of your eyes and we are absolutely starved of success.
In Thurles at the weekend when that goal went in I loved the response of our players but I also loved the response as supporters. We shouted on the boys superbly. I do think players respond to that or else I'm just soft.
As much as the match against cork should be 50/50 things might just happen on the day that the players certainly can't help. Hopefully we will have a bit of Lady luck to help us get over the line. No matter what happens we've had a fantastic year and these lads have given everything to the cause from the age of 13. Anyway COME ON YOU BOYS IN GREEN

Good post, welcome to the forum.
You're right as well.
As supporters we get involved in everything out on the pitch, which can be detrimental sometimes if panic sets in.

I remember hearing an interview with James Horan, former Mayo manager.
He implied that, in big games in Croke Park when games were in the mix, because they had such a negative history The players could almost feel the anxiety creeping in from the huge mayo support, and it definitely had an impact.

Supporters have an obligation to support, not pull down or attack players, whether in person or on line.
I'm still reeling from the fantastic year we've had.
Major respect to John Kiely and Co for all the work put in and huge thanks to the lads who put so much of their lives on hold to hurl for limerick.

On a somewhat related issue could I ask that no one use phrases like it's a great year no matter what happens or getting to a role Park is an achievement. We need like Tom Morrissey to think positively. There's a semi to be won. Let's talk about winning it. No need to allow for the negative. There is a golden opportunity here let's get comfortable with the notion that this team can and even should fulfill their potential.

Would anyone know when & where the lads are training this week? I've a week off work and would love to see a training session this week before heading to croke Park on Sunday.

Read jamesie o conners article on sky sports. The Limerick supporters need to leave the team alone to get ready for the semi final. Great read. I hope no supporters are left anywhere near a training session annoying the players.

They are in Portugal this week. Just go to Faro Airport and ask anyone there. They will give you directions!!!;

Well said Brud. We need those on the band wagon to keep away from the players. Genuine fans would already know this. Last thing we need is 2013 all over again

The Gillane/Donoghue battle next weekend will be interesting. No doubt Donoghue will provoke Gillane as much as possible. The Ref and umpires need to be on top of this if anything happens.

The key to Limerick winning this game is for our half forward to dominate the cork half back line in the air as much as possible and our midfield keeping fitzgibbon/Cooper both quiet in midfield. If we can do that and get on top in that area we will cut a large amount of supply going into Horgan and co.

I think our full forward line can cause corks fullback line massive problems. This game could suit Seamus Flanagan. Gillane will be out to get one over on Donoghue in the right way and Mulcahy/Casey whoever starts have pace cause massive problems.

I believe we can do it. Hope Hegerty/Hayes/Morrissey stamp there Authority early in this game and set the tone. Think we will win this.

I said after we beat Galway in salthill in the league that if we managed to give this young team a taste of croke park this year it would be an amazingly progressive year. After watching them subsequently in the league v Clare and tipp and the overall performance in the Munster championship I think this team is very well equipped to tackle whatever comes their way. The coaching ticket is incredibly professional. All the right boxes have been ticked since kk defeat last year. The integration of the nap contingent has been seemless which could have caused issues but kiely and co have dealt with it tremendously. The 3 subs that came on against kk helped hugely in getting us over the line.
Cork are back to back Munster champions so huge pressure is on them tomorrow week. I think this limerick team is very close to really ticking and we saw the potential against kk without the killer instinct. I said earlier I feel they might peak nicely yet this year as I feel they haven't yet. I just hope it's against cork as we'll need it to get to the final. Croke park will be a new experience for an awful lot of these guys but I hope and believe they will embrace it and flourish in it.

Just watched full match back this morning. What a game. But what a mixture of great and bad hurling form Limerick. The quality of some of our short passing from the full back and half back line was shocking and corks center field and half forward line would go to town on it. Also, our lack of killer instinct in front of goals could cost us a place in the final.

But that said there were bucket loads of great play all over the pitch too. After following this team through the league and championship, I didn't panic for a second when Hogan goaled on 65. I was just waitnig for the lads to turn it on and they did. And to me that composure is probably the best there is in the game at the moment. They did against Clare in the Munster League, Galway & Tipp in the league, Tipp & Cork in the Munster Championship and now Kk in the All Ireland series.

So if we can improve on our short passing and convert the goal chances we could be looking at an All Ireland final in three weeks. What a journey these young men have brought us on already and hopefully more to come. I for one think there is.

Happy to oblige as long as I don't see any more obvious or veiled suggestions about changing our full back stage idol crazed fan club!. We're doing great with what we have!

This game has all the ingredients to be a classic but if it turns out to be a damp squib and we win i won't be complaining the match is constantly in my head...the matchups the crowd...what has went before we played them in their own ground with 14 for a lot of the game plus losing hannon early on counteract that with that being corks 3rd game in a row no team has won playing their 3rd in a row yet they scored the last 3 points and only for finns block down.........?

I'd imagine team will be the same god knows where it'll be won or lost but if i was to hazard a guess I'd be thinking whichever full back line gets on top will go a long way to winning.

Will croke park be a factor for us? I dont think so but cork have the v disappointing experience of losing 2 semis in last few yrs so pressure imo is on them big time to deliver. Its just a fascinating game in the making 50 50 at best or a hop of the ball. Can't wait
