3-15 is only an average score by modern day hurling. If they score that much I think we'll beat them

Did we not play Kilkenny last year in Kilkenny should we not be fighting for home advantage this year

Aylward took 14 steps for first goal. Hopefully that kind of officiating will not persist next week. We need a strong ref not influenced by the jersey. I feel limerick match up very well against kk and have thought that for a while now. We need to have faith in Casey in fb and trust the management to instill a belief in this group that they are as good as anyone left. If the players reciprocate we will be successful. Croke park is where this group belong time to prove it next week.

Very well put Oldtourman.. Agree Casey might do well at FB now given his additonal hurling experience ,his size and benefit of proper management and coaching that we now seem to have. I was actually hoping to persevere with him a little longer at #3 a few years ago. Am also not ruling out Casey ..would not convict him for being beaten by Conlon. We hav e options. Also blv English could slot in there .. did a mighty job in winning under 21 AI. a few years ago. PatOLogical (Limerick) - Posts: 1377 - 09/07/2018 01:36:22 2119837 Link 0 |

Agree, we need a strong ref not influenced by the Jersey the manager . also goes without saying we (Linmerick) are due to win the physicality stakes should that be called for. or to pu tit more bluntly.. ie enough bullying No doubt John Kiely is on top of it and out boys will be on top of it . That wasn't a quarter final. Has to be neutral

Think last year we played the jersey and tradition rather than the team. This Kilkenny team are getting by due to immense displays from Reid. Holden Morrissey Maher Donnelly Keoghan Blanchfield Ryan Scanlon and Aylward are all struggling. If Fennelly and Hogan were better than them they would be starting. It's stupid to write off Kilkenny but is more stupid to make them out to be better than they are. It's a brave move but I'd drop one of the wing backs and start Finn with the sole purpose of man marking Reid. Finn is an out and out man marker and is better placed than most to limit Reid's impact on the game. Hold Reid or even almost hold him and Kilkenny are beaten. If we look at Glynn yesterday I think if we do get to meet Galway we need to persist with Richie Mac at 3. This Limerick team is better than this Kilkenny team and should win even without the three week on a row issue. welpastit (Limerick) - Posts: 740 - 09/07/2018 09:10:21 2119868 Link 0 |
KK are incredibly dependent on frees to build a score. Their starting forwards only scored 1-3 from play yesterday which is a massive change from a few years ago. One of those goals was a blatant over carry of extraordinary proportions and you have to be concerned about what kind of witchcraft KK are performing on referees to get away with blatant decisions in their favor. TJ Reid also over carried for another of the KK goals. Dealer (Limerick) - Posts: 837 - 09/07/2018 09:55:28 2119885 Link 0 |
Would that not completely unbalance us (dropping a half back)? Would you drop Byrnes or Morrissey? I think the better tactic would be to stick with what we know. Our half forward line will retreat into defensive positions when we don't have the ball and help out on keeping TJ and Co quiet. Hegarty and Hayes (if fit) will have big roles to play here. We are going to require massive levels of intensity to get over the line on this, there can be no let up. Subs will also have an important role to play. The full back line in the team will be the hardest line to call a lot will depending on how fit Finn is. If he is fit then he plays and Kiely can choose between Casey or Mccarthy. If he isn't fully right the Mccarthy starts with Casey moving to the corner. Peter Casey seemed sharp at the weekend but would be tough on Mulcahy who has been going well. Casey could be a vital impact player with 20 mins to go. Who will partner Cian Lynch at midfield. I wasn't at the Carlow game, does O'Donoghue have a chance of getting in ahead of O'Donovan. Flanagan seems to have lost a bit of form in the last few matches, we will need him back to his rampaging best. This will be a massive test for us this weekend, only our very best will be good enough. Fitzy01 (Limerick) - Posts: 443 - 09/07/2018 11:15:15 2119929 Link 1 |
if we can get to grips with tj reid we will have a mighty chance sunday......when he plays well kilkenny play well when he goes quiet kilkenny go quiet..we need to spray the ball into the forwards like we did against tipp waterford and especially again cork and drag the kk backs around they would love a ferocius battle with high ball lumped into our forwards..we have to play smart. but i think we have to quality to beat kk sunday hope we turn up and play to our potential. munsterchamps (Limerick) - Posts: 1143 - 09/07/2018 12:39:34 2119962 Link 0 |
Seamus hickey is the man for Tj Reid. Marked him out of it in 2014. brud (Limerick) - Posts: 943 - 09/07/2018 12:45:29 2119968 Link 0 |

Me too.... Assuming it's just an RTÉ screw up and not a complete farce out of the GAA?
